Dmari I use the CBFM and for the first month I had all highs (two boxes black) for the entire first month even when I knew from my own body and charting that ov had been and gone. It started asking for tests on CD9 and then every day efter that until the "m" appeared informing me that AF was due.
I was confused about this and looked online and found other ladies with exactly the same thing happening so I called CB and they said that it takes 1-2 months to get to know your wee and will ask for a test everyday from cd9 (which is usually a couple of days after your AF has finished) to start gaining data and so it is unlikely to pick up a peak in the first 1-2 months because it doesnt have many base levels to go on.
They advised me to continue my charting and watching my body for the first 1-2 months along with using the CBFM so that I dont miss out on any days and the monitor can continue gaining data. I know they dont really explain that one on the box when you buy it now do they!!
I also used to read the sticks themselves. Although CB dont recommend it I dont see that it can do any harm because what the monitor does is read the dark lines that appear in the window on your stick and then give you a definate anwser whereas when you do it visually yourself with other ov kits you can get confused.
The line closest to the peeing end of the stick detects LH, this gets stronger the closer you get to Ov. The other line detects Oestrogen, this gets lighter as the hormone increases as you approach Ov.
So a 'peak' should show a dark LH line and a light Oestrogen line. I (because I am strange) did take pictures of the CMFM window and the stick window for a while to show how they matched up. I will see if I can find them.
No AF for me still. I havent taken any tests. Im going to wait until Thursday.
