I am sorry that this is going to be a long one.
I am usually pretty calm after all these years of TTC and the first one to tell ladies to chill out but I am finding today sooooo hard.
I have got loads of work to do but instead I am stressing and spending all my time looking things up online which is making it worse. I keep walking away from my computer, sucking my tea cup and paceing up and down in front of it but I am soon back online looking again!
I have been searching all day for info and threads on no AF but BFN and stressing out. I find one post where people are saying “oh I was 9 days late and still got a BFN then I went to my GP and got a BFP” and “I didn’t get a BFP until 8 weeks after my missed period” and these give me hope.
Then I flick to the next page and I found this research information from 2001 where it said that they studied 1000 women and found that if you have a missed period for more than 3 days but you still get a BFN then there is only a 1% chance of you being pregnant and this stressed me out.
Then I went to another page and there was a woman who kept getting a BFN for 2 weeks after her missed AF then she went to her GP and still got a BFN. The GP sent her for an ultra sound for cysts and only then discovered she was pregnant. This thread had lots of other women with similar experiences and this made me happy again.
Then I clicked over to another page and it was a thread posted by a woman exactly the same amount of time late with the same amount of symptoms as me and she was asking for advice. She had 18 replies and all of them saying “I had the same problem, it turned out to be cysts” and “It was exactly the same for me and I had a MC” and “I would advise that you go to your GP straight away because I was in a similar position and it turned out to be an eptopic pregnancy and I lost one of my ovaries!!!” and “sounds like a chemical pregnancy situation to me”.
So I freaked out and e-mailed my doctors practice manager a really garbled crazy message and they e-mailed me back the below.
“Unfortunately, our surgery has a policy where we do not offer pregnancy testing for patents prior to two weeks after a missed period unless there is an underlying medical condition where early detection is beneficial or if the patent is taking part in a fertility programme.
Whilst I understand that the internet is an excellent tool for information and support for ladies in your situation, you must also bare in mind that you do not know the credentials of the publisher and therefore cannot confirm how accurate the information is and often the advice is provided second or third hand by non-medical professionals with no case backgrounds provided and so may not apply to you.
I would advise that when you read articles online you should maintain an objective view, acknowledge that it is not an accurate diagnosis in your case and tends to be generalised in nature.
It is not uncommon for ladies to experience fluctuations within there monthly cycles from time to time with no underlying cause and a four day variation really does not require a great deal of concern.
Home pregnancy tests tend to be very accurate if used correctly however, they check for the presence of the pregnancy hormone, human chorionic gonadotrophin (HCG) in your urine and this hormone is produced and process differently in every female and therefore positive result time frames vary from woman to woman.
My advice to you at this stage would be to wait until the 12th July and if your period has not arrived then take a home pregnancy test again. If you still hav
