Oh, I need help, yet again!!

For what seems like forever, I've been dithering about which double buggy to get. I've had my heart set on the City Select, but husband thinks it's too big, impractical and would prefer a Phil & Teds.

We have managed to compare the CS and a P&T Explorer side by side in a shop. The CS is a little bit longer and wider, but I love it's versatility, and that I can have baby facing me and toddler facing out.

One of husband's concerns is public transport. I don't use it terribly often but has anyone had a problem with the CS on the bus?

If anyone's got anything they particularly like - or not - about it, please let me know ....

Sorry, not a direct answer to your q - but please don't get the P&T unless you know you definitely like it. I like mine, but it def has its drawbacks, and if you start off not liking it anyway its minus points will seem even worse!

PS loving your oh-so-dramatic, I've-had-a-hell-of-a-day opener.

LOL, you know me, never miss an oportunity for dramatics!

The problem with the P&T is I know I definitely don't like it. You've told me before that you don't like the recline, or rather zipping it up from recline. I've mentioned it to husband several times, but as he rarely has to use the thing, he doesn't see it as an issue.

He and I are coming at it from completely different angles. I do see his point about the P&T's compactness, but it's not hugely different. And when used as a single, the CS is actually smaller.

He did have an arguement that the P&T was considerably cheaper, but I've found the CS online at pretty much the same price, so shot that out of the water

Having carried Max around in a sling today, and given myself backache, buying a double is getting urgent!

I've replied in Baby, but hope you manage to talk hubby round - like you say, you're the one who'll be using it all the time

Hello!

I have the baby jogger city select and I LOVE it!!

I dithered too between the p&t and CS, and i'm so glad I made the choice and paid a bit more for the select as its been fantastic. My DS is now 26 months and my baby 9 weeks and its excellent, I love being able to see Violet up close and having her face me, which i'd have regretted had I had a p&t as I walk EVERYWHERE!

But having said that on a rainy day the other day I braved the bus (I was very nervous as wasn't sure I'd fit!!) and I did!! That was with the carrycot facing me and 2nd seat behind facing me so in its longest mode too, and since then I've used it with car seat closest to me and 2nd seat facing out (which is shorter and better for shopping!) and that was even easier.

Oh and the shopping basket is amazing..I'm not sure I could cope with not having one on a p&t when both seats in use. I work from home so have to transport parcels to post office daily, and is great for shopping, you can fit so much under there!!

It has its bad points, that its very tough to get up and down and can be hard work to push on uneven pavements due to the weight, but I just see it as a challenge to tone up after 2nd baby!lol.

If you have any other questions about it just ask...but I love mine (and daily get people stop me in the street to ask about it, or comment how much of a 'better' design it is!)

Leanne (mum to stanley 2, and violet 9 weeks)

PS - my husband was very reluctant too because of the price, but I just explained to him how important it was to me to be comforatable going out easily with both children (as Stanley only started walking unaided at 2, lazy boy..so I needed a double as he still uses it most of the time!) - oh and that I think it will have a good resale value when we come to sell!!lol.

thanks Leanne, have sent your post to husband, just the sort of thing he needs to hear

Just so anyone else reading isn't misled - you can use the basket on the P&T when both seats are in use - you just access it from the poppered side rather than the back.

(no offence! - I just know that even some people who HAVE the P&T don't know this and I was SO chuffed when I realised myself!)

I've also got the City Select and I absolutely love it! I'm only using it as a single at the minute, but I far prefer it to the M&P Pliko that I had - and I can't wait to start using it as a double.

Yes it is long in doubles mode, but in my opinion the versatility that comes with it far outweighs the length. I'm looking forward to my two lo's sat facing each other playing peekaboo, or babbling together.

You'll be the one pushing the pram, so like PT says, don't buy anything you know you don't like because you'll really regret it - and it's not a cheap mistake to rectify

xxx.

PTB I have a P&T and didn't know the side was poppered! I'll be off to investigate when the rain stops (it's in the boot). I do use my basket with the seat reclined, but only for thin or squishy things I can push through the side!

someone has a cs for sale on ebay over in pregnancy. i like it too but am not pg yet lol. and i sympathise with people who's husbands think they have a say! my hubs is the opposite. ive had a go at mine today for agreeing with everything i suggest with no thought or discussion!!! that's, i think, equally annoying!

JOO! I'm going to warn your hubby to double-check your contraception arrangements!
20/11/2010 at 16:46
PTB - my contraception is two words MICKEY MOUSE!!!!!!!!!!!

And add THREE WEEKS IN ORLANDO to that and you've got yourself the thickest condom you ever did see!!!!!!!!!!!!

LOL, glad you like it Joo. Think I am finally going to bite the bullet and get the City Select. Trying to get about without a double is nigh on impossible as I can't wear the sling for more than an hour.

And Joo, you've still just about got time to get preggy and pop the baby out before Disney.

Im due my second in 3 weeks and my OH, as well as parents etc. are all insisting that i do not required a double, and i will just have to make do with ALWAYS relying on somebody else if i ever i need to go anywhere!!!

I am so down and stressed about it =(
