Hi ladies

I'm not due until May but I've always thought I would want to use reusables. The problem is everyone who keeps laughing when I mention it! Grrr

Really interested in the bumgenius ones but was wondering how many Inappies/liners I would need for a newborn and also if this isn't a stupid question, how do you wash the liners when the baby has done a runny poo?

Any advice appreciated, thanks x

They are just jealous because you are responsible enough to use cloth and they aren't. We use bum g, but didn't use them til later on. I'm not much help for newborn poo! Pop over to clothnappytree.com they gave all the answerS!! Well done for choosing cloth it's really so much better and easier than I expected!!

My little one is 9 weeks and we have just started using these. I got the same reaction and even my hubby wasnt sure, but we got a few to try and we have never looked back. I found this website very helpful http://www.lizziesrealnappies.co.uk/ I emailed the lady and had a responce within a few hours and she explained it all to me. Also thenappylady has videos on all the different nappies which I got hubby to watch and he was much more confident after seeing those.

Good luck and ignore silly people, these nappies are so much nicer for little ones bums. xxx

I didnt start using them til lo was about 5 months, but I have never looked back. You can get disposable liners which can be flushed.
I got some good deals at www.fillyourpants.co.uk

Cloth bums are happy bums x

the runny poo ( breastfed poo etc) is sooooo much easier then weaned poo...my god id do anything to go back to non stinky poo haha!!

people gave me the same reaction 'you'll give up after a week' etc..well 6 months on and I wouldnt even think about letting a disposable touch his bum!

We use bumgenious one size pockets (v3 or v4) and thye are brill..alot less leaks them with disposables!!
id say about 20-24 nappies to begin with a newborn washing every other day.
with breastfed poo you dont have to do anything...just shove the whole nappy (poo and all) into the nappy bucket then into the washing machine on wash day xx

We started with BG's at 3 months. Ignore other people's negativity they probably still think you have to master origame and nappy pins with reusables ! BG's are ace especially for other halves and childcare as you only have to put one thing on your baby not like 2 piec e nappies. We had 20 which seemed about right for us and we used paper liners for getting rid of poo.
You'll save money, reduce landfill, won't have to rush out to the shops when you've run out of disposables or have the weight or smell of them in your bin. They're also far kinder to babies skin and far funkier than disposables. I could go on but I'm preaching to the converted sorry ! Well done for making the decision it's your baby so it's your choice ! screaminggreen.co.uk has a really good advice page to get you started. Good luck.

Hi ladies thanks for all the replies! Lost track of this thread and just saw it again

I think I'm gonna have to work on my hubby he doesn't get that although initially expensive they will be cheaper in the long run! Also fed up of people saying my baby will stink of wee!

Will have a look at all the links given, I'm so sure it's the right thing to do!
