Hi,
Isobelle is now 19 weeks uncorrected (7 weeks corrected) and is doing quite well. She is still small at 7lb 5oz, but shes following the bottom centile so thats good.
Heartwise, she is a good colour and not getting too tired or breathless. we've been told that her PDA (open valve) has probably closed. They will monitor the ASD and if it doesnt close by the time she's five, they will close it and her pulmonary stenosis ( abnormal thickened valve) could get worse but it will be over years rather than months. So we feel a bit more relaxed about it now.
The only thing that is worrying me at the moment is that she has a stridor which is a noise she makes when she breathes. It's worse when she's upset or feeding. She has severe reflux , but the milk and acid get stuck in her throat and she has trouble breathing.
I had to take her to the ENT unit at Birmingham childrens hospital today and they looked down her throat. The doctor was really nice and she told me that there was some inflamation around her voice box caused by the reflux. So she's changed her medication. I've got to take her back for a barium xray and also for them to have a look further down her throat under general anaesthetic.
My poor little girl, she's such a good baby and so brave.

awww lovely lil Isobelle I can't believe how old she is now! Time going so quick, George is 3 mths on Sat we recon he is about 9 and a half pounds. 0-3 mth clothes still swamp him but 7.5lb isn't long enough in the body. Have you got any new pics to show us of bubby girl? Fingers crossed on the PDA closing. Hopefully the new meds are going to make a big difference. Let us know what happens xjx

Hi Smoochiegal,
can't believe George is 3 months. Time does go soo fast. he'll be 3 years before you know it lol and you'll be chasing him everywhere.
i'm so frustrated as my brother took some photos of her, but his computer has crashed and they're all on there. It seems like she's been a tiny baby for so long now and has just started to smile.

Hiya M,
I don't know how you manage to cope having young children and the probs you've encountered with bby Izzy. Even looking at the profile pic she has an inquisitive look and looks contented having a cuddle. If the pics were on a digi cam/mobile you can go in boots and bluetooth them to print out or stick mem card in machine. Awww 7lb 5 that's nearlly the size G was when in hosp. We had him weighed the other day and he is a whopping 10lb 8oz my lil sausage. So is she back at home now? Is she alert like other babies of her age? It is funny to me cos CJ was 9lb 3 when born so looking at G just a bit bigger is like having an alert newborn, that smiles and follows you around the room. Any improvement with her stridor? Did the new meds work? xjx

I am a very infrequent poster but it is so nice to hear how Isobelle is doing and can't believe how quickly the time has gone! She is a real fighter and it makes me realise how much of an easy time we had in SCBU with our twenty eight weeker. Reflux and a few food issues are the only scars we seem to have. How is your two year (Elise?) old doing. I don't think there is much age difference between her and my DD.

Love

It's so nice to hear updates on little Isobelle's progress. Can't believe she is 21 weeks already, times flies eh!

Hope the new meds for her reflux work, it's so horrible to see them in pain when trying to feed. Have you got an appt through for her barium x-ray yet?

Hi
thanks for your replies.
well, she is chubbing up nicely now and is a whopping 8lb 2oz! lol
I've found that she gets cold quite quickly and her arms and hands turn blue. The peadiatric registrar that we saw on tuesday told us it was to do with her circulation but not to worry. Only if her lips and/or tongue go blue that we need to seek medical attention. think i'm getting really paranoid and will be glad when summers here.
I think her stridor has improved and she only starts to get wheezy and breathless half way through her feed. Doesnt like taking her meds though.
Denise - she's 5 months on the 7th so fingers crossed her PDA has definiately closed. Hope Kenny is doing ok.
Smoochie - i know the feeling. people look at Isobelle and ask how old. they are surprised when i say nearly 5 months.
Sleepy- thanks for asking about elise. She is a little darling and so funny. Her speech is delayed but she does everything in her own time so not too worried.
