hey pregnant ladies! just popped over from the ttc forum and was wondering if any of you have any tips for trying to conceive? Did you change anything, or try something new and then fell pregnant? anything you wouldn't recommend? As you can see from what time i posted this topic-i can't sleep! Congrats to all with bfp's and wishing you all healthy and happy pregnancies! :\)

Hi there, I have cut and paste my response below from the TTC forum (Top Tips). This was my response to a lady who also asked for tips. This is what i did so it worked for us. im 20wks 4 days pregnant.

Cut down on alcohol (not completely though), ate a good balanced diet with plenty veggies and fruit, i was quite active before i got pregnant doing cycling, walking and aerobics. I also started taking Pregnacare as soon as i came of the pill and made hubby take supplements too such as selenium, vit c and zinc. He also included mixed nuts in his diet daily too as they are good for zinc and selenium which make healthy sperm. He is a smoker and he likes a beer or two so he happily took these supplements (smoking aparently depletes vit c) and ate nuts every day rather than have to give up smoking and drinking Plus he also eats plenty fruit / veg anyway so he didnt have to change his diet too drastically.

We tried most nights when i was ov and in the afternoon at the weekend. I also did the legs in the air with a pillow under my bum thingy!!

Not sure if these things are sure fire way of working for definate but they worked for us!

Good luck and hope you will be joining us on this forum very soon;\)

Hi

We both took supplements (Sanatogen) as soon as I came off the pill, neither of us smoke or drink and we both eat healthily which I think helps. We also just relaxed and had fun when bd and didn't think about babies at all until afterwards when I made sure not to get up for at least 15mins.

Have fun trying, hope you don't have to wait long for your BFP xxxxxx

My pregnancy was (VERY!) unplanned (loving it now though) so I didnt take folic acid and my diet could be quite bad but it still happened for us in about a month maybe 2 so I would definitely recommend 'not trying' as think about all the unplanned pregnancies, it seems to be very effective! lol!

Also I heard having sex 'doggy-style' helps as it's deep penetration (sorry tmi) so the sperm don't have that far to swim! That's me and my oh favourite position soooo it woked for us.

Maybe think about cutting out alcohol/smoking as well. Although me and my oh didn't always eat healthily we're not big drinkers (maybe 2 units a week for me, 4 for him) and never smoked.

hi it took us 15 months and tbh i didnt really "try" as such like others have said relax and not stress is the best thing to do. dont get too obsessed (easier said than done i think) as its not ususally a quick process and i think i expected it to take at least a year so only started to "try" properly after this good luck ! xxx

We had been trying for a while but I was so stressed with work it seem to be afftecting my ability to conceive so I went for Reflexology and Auricular Acupuncture once a week and within 6 weeks was pregnant, for me I think the sessions just helped me to relax which helped me conceive. However my cousin had been trying for 2 years and was taking fertility drugs with no luck then she fell pregnant naturally after starting Reflexology and Auricular Acupuncture sessions, Goodluck!!

tried for 11 years with no luck and when it happened every "rule" in the ttc'ing handbook was broken...we were on holiday drinking a lot, did the deed twice in day both quickies so no legs in the air so sometimes it just happens! best of luck.!

Having an orgasm just after your partner climaxes helps a lot. Got pregnant first time, both times when we tried to conceive using this method. It's something to do with the muscles in the vagina that pull/contract allowing the sperm to swim through the cervix easier. I swear by this method as it worked for us both times first time!

Hi when we were trying, after sex i used to go onto all four's with bum in the air tried this for 6 months then went out for a few drinks had sex then slept all night on all fours & now have a lush 7 months old girl,my friend & her sister suggested it as they had both problems & they both have 2 girls,Good luck xo

Well we hadn't been actively trying but after 1.5 year figured just not going to happen. i don't drink but there were 2 key things that happened when i did turn out to be pregnant, 1) we'd just bought our first house and preparing to move in, i don't know if the nesting rumour is true but maybe... and 2) i drank way too much coffee and i decided to give it up as it wasn't doing me any good so switched to decaf. i've actually read since that 1 cup of coffee can cut your fertitlity by something like 80% (sorry i know this isn't an exact figure but was v. surprised either way) so anyway try giving up the caffiene and good luck

I think if you can manage not to think about sex as 'making babies' (I know, it's really difficult) and just have fun with it it really helps, rather than thinking about ovulation and positions etc. My first baby was conceived within a month- mainly cos I think we weren't actively trying, just having lots of bedroom fun! As soon as my period stopped we had unprotected sex a couple of times a day for a couple of weeks and I found out I was pregnant at teh end of the same month.I'm pregnant again and this one was totally unplanned and happened by accident. I know it's easier said than done but I know a few women who conceived once they gave up 'trying'.

If you fancy a more pricy option my auntie went up a mountain in Rhodes to a monestary and lit a candle for herself and her friend who'd had probs conceiving and both got pregnant soon after!

Good luck. xxx

we had months of trying and no joy then i got told to hold my legs up for 20 mins after sex so that nothing "dribbles out". it gives it time to swim!!! and after a month of doing this and sex twice daily in the week i was ovulating, i got a bfp!!! ok, so it can get a bit of a pain but try putting a pillow under ur bum after sex aswell.

hope this helps

Totally agree about the position and leaving time to swim! That and the ovulation test to ensure you are having sex at the right time will stack the odds in your favour. At the end of the day its a game of chance so you have to do everything possible to increase the chance. The things listed above cost next to nothing and greatly increase your chances. If you have fertility problems you may have to resort to more expensive methods such as IVF. Thanks melanie

Hi, I've just turned 28yrs old. I came off the pill last September and haven't yet conceived. It was only recently I started using an Ovulation Calender as my partner and ??I just thought if it happens it happens. Anyway, we have started using the calendar and having sex on the days it says I'm most fertile but haven't had any luck. It seems now, when my periods do come I suffer from sweats, blotted tummy, sore boobs and ??very sensitive nipples, I also eat a lot more now. I was sick yesterday morning and started bleeding on Sunday night but my period was due Monday and ??have had a very very light period. Can anyone help me out on why my bodies changing so much when my periods are due but I'm never falling pregnant? My periods have never been heavy they usually last about 3-4 days but I only had a proper bleed yesterday it seems to be pretty light today and there starting to stop. My cycle is every 28 days although the odd occasion there 26 or 27.

Thank you.

With my LO and this pregnancy we conceived using preseed (first month of using it with LO and second month of using it this time. Also ov tests and the 'sperm meets egg plan' both times too, sperm meets egg with preseed worked both times first month of trying these two together, after about 4 months in each case of ttc without these.
Carefree and young I know it can be frustrating but sometimes you just notice things a lot more once you start ttc, also randomly it does seem like lots of BDing and TTCing seems to have odd effects on women's hormones, there always seem to be a lot of women on the boards who once they start ttcing are late for the first time ever without being pregnant or their periods change or they have symptoms they never had before, although this could be either a hormonal change or just that we notice absolutely everything when ttc.
Try not to fret and maybe try some of the tips above,ov sticks (even the cheap ones off ebay) can be helpful to determine the right time in your cycle as can charting/temping,a calendar alone only gives you a rough estimate based on an average woman's cycle pattern.
Hope that helps!

Hi we were TTC for about a year but had no positive results so I decided to relax and stop thyinking all the time that we can't have a baby later my friend gave me the link with the info https://saymommy.com/mom_969_5-tips-pregnant-faster.html the tips were so simple that I used them and in a month I had my positive test! Good luck!

I read somewhere that you should make sure you have sex on the day you notice egg white cervical mucus as this is when you are most fertile. We did this, and it worked!
