Hi ladies, this is my first post in the pregnancy forum

Are any of you RHnegative and having a 2nd, 3rd or more baby...I know this 'condition' affects 2nd and subsequent babies so I'm a bit concerned and wondered if anybody had any experience with it.

I'm O-negative and DH is positive so with my first pregnancy I had the anti-D injections. What is the procedure for 2nd baby? Do they give the shots at the same time? Is anything else done?

Firstly congratulations!

I'm RH neg and my OH is RH+ and i've just had my third baby. As long as you had the anti d last time after the birth there shouldn't be any problems.
It might differ in different areas but i think you have the routine anti d at 28-30 weeks and again after the birth.
If you get any bleeding or have any knocks to bump you will need to ring doc or MW asap to have another anti d injection within 72 hours of bleed.

xx

I am RH negative and I had the injection with my first and again this time at 28 weeks.
I hate it as it hurts me...some people say it does not hurt but it did me both times

Piggypops if your OH is also rhesus negative there is no need for the anti-d injections there is no chance your baby could have rhesus positive antibodies. The reason they give them to everyone is that they don't want to offend people by checking that there is no chance that someone else could be the father so if you don't want the injections tell them!

Hi, I'm O neg and my daughter Samantha is A pos so I had three shots of anti-d with her, 28wks/34wks/postbirth. Now 17wks into 2nd pregnancy and have already had anti-d as bled through most of 1st trimester. All is fine according to last scan but will have the same anti-d appts as with my daughter plus any extra for trips/falls/knocks to bump now that am past the 13wk stage. My midwife takes great joy in reminding me of that.
