Raspberry leaf tablets?

I bought some raspberry leaf tablets the other day but haven't used 'em yet as i noticed they were stronger than the ones i'd bought during my last pregnancy. I got these from holland and barret and they are 640mg rather than the 400mg i took last time. The dosage is pretty much the same on both bottles but these ones are stronger.

Has anyone had these stronger tablets before? (the ones i had previous were capsules)

Any advice welcome....

Hi emma, i didn't use any last time, but have been taking these ones for the last 4 weeks (edd 9/4). I opted for them because the capsules looked HUGE!!!! I haven't had any side effects or severe contractions... Hopefully I'll be able to let you know soon if they've worked. If in doubt take them back and i'm sure they'll change them for you. Sam xxx

Hiya,
Can I just ask what rasberry leaf tablets are for? Do they help bring on labour or something?

Hi i opted for the tablets this time because they were stronger and i am just impatient and because they were smaller and i found the capsules got stuck halfway down and gave me heartburn for hours. Dont think they do anything more tho coz ive been taking them since wk 35 and im due in 5 days and no sign of baby yet!

rasberry leaf does not help bring on labour, it softens the cervix and is suppost to make the second stages of labour (the pushing part) easier and quicker. i also read somewhere that it can help to control excess bleeding after the birth and give a healthy milk supply. im also taking these tablets at the moment, i mentioned it to my midwife at 31 weeks and he said it was fine to start taking them, i didnt start until 32 weeks as there is alot of conflicting advice as to when they should be taken. i have been told by my midwife if i get more frequent braxton hicks, then the dose should be lowered. then slowly built back up again. hope this helps you ladies. xx

Emma i took them exact same tablets from H&B and had no problems with them. It was my first pregnancy, i was induced but labour only lasted 8hrs which i thought was quite good! Dont know how labour would have been if i hadnt taken them though thats the thing!I would definitely use them again though just incase.

Sorry ladies another question! With the 640mg tablets - Did you take the recommended 2 tablets with water 3 times a day to start with as i think this does seem like alot?? Or did you start by taking a smaller dose?? Cheers, Emma xx

Hi,
I've just bought the 400mg tablets from H&B. Saw the 640mg ones too but thought it was best to get the lower dose as I've never used them before! This is my first pregnancy and I am 38 + 1. Couldn;t take them any earlier because baby was breech but has since been turned so I'm on the case! May wait until Sunday to start taking them though as I'm off to a wedding tomorrow and don't want to suffer from increased Braxton Hicks all day! Has anyone found that they have that effect? I am getting a lot of braxton hicks already and some of them are quite strong. Will taking these tablets increase the number I get or make the stronger?! I have heard mixed views on this?
Thanks!
