Nappy Bins - what are the best buys?

14/05/2008 at 09:46
Anyone buying one of these? or bought one before?

I have seen the Tommee Tippee one on offer at Boots usually its ??29.99 but is now ??14.99 the cassetts are ??4.49 but it doesnt say how many you get for that price?

After searching the web for a better bargin I have now found the Vital Baby nappysafe which is currently on offer at babies 'r' us for ??39.99 and you just use normal bin liners which it says saves you more money in the long run?

to be honest with you from what I've heard there a complete waste of money but then I'm using reuseables anyway so I wont need one. I'd try if you havent already putting a post on the best buys forum. Could you not put them stright in you outside bin? xx

Hi,

My baby is 8 weeks old. I have to say i didn't buy one cos you can get a free one with your bounty pack that you will get given in hospital if you really want to use a nappy wrap bin.

I personally bought a nappy pail as I thought it would be better value for money. However i don't even use this.

i use fragranced nappy sacks from sainsburys (can get them pretty much anywhere). you get 150 of them for ??1.75 i think. I got mine 1/2 price when sainsburys had a sale! You can get about 3 or 4 nappys plus used wipes in there. as it is fragranced unless you have a really smelly nappy you can keep it until it is full then put straight into bin outside. if Chloe does a really smelly poo (sorry tmi) the bag, whether full or not goes straight outside but othewise it doesn't til it's full.

this is far cheaper. I have one set in my change bag, another upstairs and another downstairs so they are everywhere i might need them. I haven't got through a pack anywhere yet and trust me there have been a lot of nappy changes in the last 8 weeks!!!!lol!!

Obviously up to you but I personally wouldn't bother.

Sorry for the ramble!

I would helen tbh - soooo much cheaper, less fuss and far more convienient - what would you use when you are out anyway?! lol!!
there are better things to spend your money on, especially when you have to buy refills - buy cute outfits instead!! that's my justification anyway!! lol!!

I have just joined Babyexpert as I will be giving birth on February 15th to a boy! this will be my first child so quite nervous. any tips?

I wouldn't bother either. My sis had one and to be honest I thought I could constantly smell nappies!! That alone has totally put me off.

Nappy sacks and straight into wheelie bin all the way here. Much cheaper - I bought box of 300 nappy sacks for 84p in the local chemist

yeah, I have to agree they are a waste of money when nappy bags are much cheaper, and the nappy bins ALWAYS smell of baby poo - it doesnt matter how often you wash them or wmpty the liners, they smell really bad!!!!

My little boy is nearly 2 and my nappy bin has never been out the box. I just used nappy bags.

Following on from what I said all those months ago i do now use my free angelcare one!!!

I now live in a 3 storey house and chloe's room is on the top floor. so we use it just for wet nappies and the refills are pretty reasonable for the amount you get out of them - more reasonable than the tommee ones i think but that's just me!!

i do still use nappy sacks as well on the other two floors and i have only just opened the last of the 1/2 price packs i bought!!!! very good value and so handy. i also have not had to change the ones in my change bag yet and chloe is now 9 mths old!!

Chloe poos more than the average baby from what i have seen - at 4-10 times a day so you can imagine how many sacks i must get through but not had to buy any since she was newborn!

Hi just to let you know that the tommee tippee nappy wrapper is only ??9.99 at mothercare. I got mine from there.

I don't think i'm entitled to the bounty stuff for some reason as i've never been given a pack so i wouldn't get a voucher anyway. I don't know if i'll use my nappy wrapper but at least it was cheap if i don't xxxx

it's ??5 now but thats still ??20 off...we wouldnt be without ours, its so much better than putting it in normal bin, it doesn't smell and all the nappies are together then in their own bag ready to take out to wheelie bin when full...JJ is nearly 14 weeks and we've only spent ??10.99 on refills so far and we use it for EVERY nappy we change at home so if u think ur gunna use it then get one, it's well worth it!! x

Thanks mrsjbourne.

When i was first pregnant the doctor said the midwife would give me a pack or something then the midwife said the hospital would but no one ever did so i just assumed i didn't get one. My midwife is not the best and trys to pass the buck for everything! xx
