Hi my friend has just had a little boy, well he's nearly 5 weeks now. .She seemed to be coping really well, but yesterday she rang me in floods of tears saying she can't cope and that she needs some time away. Too be honest i'm not surprised, she has alot of people around her but no one seems willing to help. I've told her to come up to mine one day to have a bit of a break, i dont mind looking after the baby for a few hours so she can get some rest, but as a typical mum does she says she'll be ok. Shes begged me not to mention this to anyone and i just dont know what to do. I've asked her to go to the doctors as she is obviously feeling depressed.
Her oh doesn't help, i said for her to get his dad to have him for an hour so she could have a bath and a bit of a relax and she said she would have to ask him! WHAT? is it just me or should dads have the same responsibility as the mums? i dont have to ask my oh if i can have a bath!! oh god he winds me up xx

i had this with a lot of my friends, and even experienced it a little while my son was in special care.

i think you are so excited with the whole pregnancy/birth stage you dont realise what it will actually be like. my friend said she didnt feel like herself anymore, more like mummy and wife!! i knew what she meant.

i was more opposite as i had loads of people trying to sincerely help while my son was in special care but i didnt want them to help. i wanted to do it all myself. (or so i thought).

she may not feel ready to speak to GP, try and encourage her to come round to your house again, or maybe go for a walk in the park. anything to get away from staying inside.

i hope she feels a little better soon. xx;\)
