Hi lovelies,

Was wondering if you ladies could help clarify something for me.

Hubby n i have heard that it is bad luck to have your pram in the house before the baby is born, is this true?? We got our pram 2 weekends ago which is at my parents house because of this.

Also really need to know if its also bad luck to have crib/cot up in the house?? This one is more important as we're having both from friends who are kindly hanging on to them for us. We finished painting our nursery last weekend and i would really love to get the cot n crib in there when i move everything else in but won't if it is bad luck.

Hubby is quite superstitious and we really don't want to jinx anything as this is our 2nd pregnancy but will be our 1st baby.

Hope this makes sense and that you can help.

Thanks in advance :\)

Personally I think it's only superstition but if it bothers you then go with what feels right.

I have everything ready for the arrival, cot, moses basket, pram, all clothing and bedding washed and made up too xx

Hi Sohappy. It is just superstition to not have the baby's things in the house before the birth and won't affect anything but if you and your hubby are superstitious then I'm sure your friends and family won't mind hanging on to them for a while. You sound like you are like me though - I'm so impatient to have everything set up and looking lovely waiting for the baby to arrive - the other night I was trying out the new baby sling with a doll! How much longer do you have to wait? I hope everyhing goes well for you this time and the baby arrives safely.

I wouldn't have the pram in the house with either of my children, as my grandad and great grandmother were very superstitious and i'm sure some of it has rubbed off on me! I hadn't heard about the cot though and had that up as soon as we had the nursery ready.

Thank you ladies,

Thought that it might just be the pram that shouldn't be in the house, that will probably stay at my parents house then. Maybe we'll get the cot and crib soon then so i can kit the nursery out as its all painted and i'm excited!!! Hubby keeps going in their to look at his handy work lol. We've got everything else in the house, clothes, monitor etc, just wanted to be sure.

Sarah, thats the sort of thing i'd do, have a practice with a doll!! I'm 27+4 so hopefully on the straight run now, fingers crossed. Thanks for your kind words, good luck to you too xxx

Personally i think it's personal preference. We have had all our furniture and pushchair etc at home. Unless i left it in the garage i had no where to put it anyway.

g/c from baby

i wldn't say it was bad luck, just if something were to go wrong how wld u feel looking at all that stuff, if its out of the way, ie parents house then u don't have to deal with it until ur ready, iyswim? we didn't get the pram or anything like that (cot/ moses etc) set up until i was 38weeks, weel infact the pram wasn't doen until afer we got home, and cot was done when ds was about 14weeks old, so only moses basket then lol xx

we did have the pram at my mums but at over 2 hours away we needed it with us do its now in the garage, it was parents pressure that made us store it elsewhere in the start
our cot has been up for a while now as we wanted to be prepared if baby arrived early.

i am not persoanally superstitius, i am more a beliver in fate and having the pram in the house is not going to change what is ment to be x

My Mum said that we shouldn't have pram up in the house during my first pregnancy because of this old wives tale...but we did. BUT think of it like this- we are on our 2nd pregnancy and we already have cot, moses basket in the house- the cot my daughter is in (as a toddler bed) and my sister borrowed the moses basket for my niece when they were staying last week and will be getting double buggy long before baby is here so that Lily can get used to it so it seems very very silly nonsense to me!x

My babies my world..

Thanks for your replies ladies,

I too think its a strange one if its ok to have everything else in the house, guess it is personal preference then and whatever you believe in and what makes you feel comfortable xxx
