hi girls

Ive had a niggling doubt that something was going to go wrong with my pregnancy since i got BFP but now its just gotten silly, i even know i'm being daft. I cant bring myself to buy anything because i wouldnt want a load of baby stuff hanging around without a baby but i also know i cant wait til baby is here to buy everything. I have no real reason to feel like this cos its my first pregnancy and ive never known anyone who miscarried. i dont really know what im asking you all, i guess when is it sensible to buy things?

Thanks Liz

Hi Liz,

Why not wait till after your 20-week scan now, then that should hopefully reassure you lots. I didn't buy much till after my 20-week scan. Once you've had that and soon you will start to feel lots of movement which is SOOOOOOOOOO reassuring and your bump will grow and hopefully things will start to feel a lot more real for you.

Take care,

Ruth x

OH and I are holding off buying anything until after 24-weeks, as this is the date your baby is "viable", but then we've already had two mc's.

We just don't want to tempt fate.

hi why not wait until after your 20 week scan or 24 weeks when baby is viaable lik eother girls have suggested?

i cant say anything i will be 30 weeks on saturday and i havent bought one thing (not so much due to fear now but more the thought i cant bear having anything in the house incase i had to come home without a baby which sounds terrible but i had a mmc last march and thats made me worse)

i waited til 28 weeks before ordering our pram and that was only as they said 6-8 weeks but to allow 12 and even then its just a deposit and shop will hold it for us when it comes in til baby is here and then we will pay it off so im not the best example...

on that note i also dont have alot of movement and have no bump yet - im still in my own clothes and have lost around 9lbs so thats all led to my hysteria but numerous scans have shown a healthy baby, growing nice and looking nice and content in 4d so fimgers crossed...

my plan is at 32 weeks to order car seat (as have seen this can take 4-6 weeks) and just buy enough baby grows and vests etc to go in my hospital bag (people will buy loads for us when baby is here and it will be nice chossing when we know if boy or girl) will also pick up some nappies and milk about 34 weeks..these will go in hospital bag too and then thats all that will be in the house (things like a baby bath or steriliser you can pick off the shelf so i dont see the rush to buy a lot of things like that) and baby will be in with us for fuirst 6 months so i dont plan to do the nursery until they are here (although over next few weeks i do plan to empty it, paint it and recarpet it but thats all - i couldnt even buy a picture i saw the other day for the nursery as im sooo neurotic) also sis in law is buying me a moses basket so baby will have somewhere to sleep (although i will order a crib for in our room about 35 weeks and pick up minimal amounts of bedding)

its my first baby and i may be very naive but i will get buy some how so dont stress....and dotn worry about buying things or not as you cant be as bad as me lol...

sorry for waffling on...as i said im not the best example but if you feel like buying things just go for it and if you cant bring yourself too then dnt stress about it as you will get by and have plenty of time (anything i do plan to buy liek bedding etc i will prob store at my mother in laws anwyay so still not in the hosue lol!)

just be positive there is no reason for anything to go wrong now...

Hi

It's natural to worry but try not too worry so much you don't enjoy being pregnant. We first went shopping after the 20 week scan and felt much more confident by then that everything was ok.

There's no hurry to buy things for a few months. In my baby magazine it says that by 28 weeks your baby has a 95% chance of survival if born early, so that's pretty good odds. If you wait until 24-28 weeks you will still have plenty of time to get stuff.

I would just start to look around and check delivery times,as some puschairs etc take 8 weeks.

Mothercare do a baby plan where you can start getting things but pay in instalments and they keep it all and deliver it just before the birth. I think a lot of people are supersticious about having stuff in the house
