How far along are you? Surely they cant be accurate in predicting the size of your baby? I have never had one of these!?!

i had a growth chart in my notes and it wasn't very accurate, they told me my LO would be 10lb+ but he was 8lb 5oz so don't worry x

Well my midwife said it was a new computer programe based on height and weight of mother and BMI - she said it was pretyy accurate!

Should i be worried?
Seems quite big for my first?!?

I've just got back from my 25 week mw appt and she said - oh we haven't got a growth chart - didn't explain whether it was for the baby or me!!! So at least I know now! She's now requested one.

my growth chart was made up at my scan and put in my notes. the top line shows my baby being nearly 10lb at 40 weeks, and since 28 weeks, my curve from fundal measurements has been above the top line! hmm, my baby should be like over 10lb!!!! i really dont think she will be though. 9lb is pretty average these days so dont worry too much. my first was only 6lb 11oz so i'm thinking between 8 and 9 for this one.

OMG just looked at my notes and i'm the same as you millysmum. i'm above the top line which suggests i'm having a good 10lb er!! i know i'm not small but how the hell am i gonna give birth to a 10lb baby?!?!?!? xx

i've thought that too, but then very quickly out it out of my head!!!!

Don't worry hun, even if they are spot on (which I seriously doubt) you'll be fine. My lo was 8lbs and I had a great birth with her.
They can't even get a correct prediction with scan later on in pregnancy, so don't let it worry you. x x

My son was 8lb14oz and posterior and I no problems! and I'm only 5'1" and 8ish stone give or take so I shouldn't panic. I actually want another big baby this time as I felt more comfortable with my son. My friend had a baby a few months after me and was 4lb14 at birth (born at 34 weeks though) but I first held her when she was 7lb and I did not enjoy holding such a fragile little baby!

Seems strange to me that they would try and predict it so early on, sounds like it is just scaring people more than anything!

With my first pregnancy I was measuring on the line or just above the line throughout my pregnancy and my little boy was a perfect 7lbs 4oz. Your measurements can be bigger if you are carrying more amniotic fluid so don't worry about it. xx

hi
with my first we didnt have growth charts, and she said i was going to have an average 8lb baby, he came out at 9lb 2oz.
This time around they've given me one of those growth charts and it shows that girly is measuring bigger than average, but should only be about 9lb, my MW said she wouldnt take any notice of it unless it was showing a small baby, and she expects this one to be at least 9lbs 4oz ish.... She takes into account that they put on lots of weight in the last couple of weeks, and that hubbys family have massive babies so these seem to be following that trend.
