I just found out 3 days ago that I am pregnant. And since yesterday have been having back pains, then all my body was hurting... I thought they where pregnancy symptoms..! Then... the flu symptoms got worst. All my body is aching. My head... and then the fever started to kick in... Now i have a really bad cough. I dont know what to do.. I have been up all night trying to sleep and the fever and body ache is killing me.... I took 1 paracetamol... and the fever went down but i am really worried about the baby inside of me... can anyone give me any tips to fight the flu. I am calling the GP today....

aww bless you (hug)

paracetamol are fine to take at a normal dose (my dr said your liver works more efficiently when pregnant anyway & the baby will be protected)

drink plenty of fluids, warm drinks can help ease a sore throat as dose a tea spoon of honey in with a warm drink

try & rest up as much as possible

you have my sympathy as I had a rotten cold last week & felt like sh!t all week

Your poor thing! I started with cold symtoms last night and I'm around 5 weeks pregnant. Had awlful sore throat, I've found that sipping hot blackcurrent cordial really soothed my throat. Hope you feel better soon. x

Hi, when I was earlier on in my pregnancy I caught a bug from my little boy. My Dr said it was better for the baby to take paracetamol regularly to keep my temperature down, rather than just have the temperature. I'm now 36+1 and our baby is fine. I hope you feel better v soon xx

I had flu at 4 weeks and it is really scary. I had lots of hot ribeana and just rested. I had such a bad hacking cought that I also spoke to a Boots pharmacist who looked up in a book what cough medicine I could take when pregnant. In the end i could take a boots own brand. Certainly worth having a word.

This is the time of year I guess for all those nasty bugs!! I've had a terrible sore throat since last night. Been awake all night as every time I coughed it felt like I'd swallowed glass!! I went to the pharmacy and was told I could take strepsils, plenty fluid and stay warm - oh and paracetamol (which does nothing for me lol) Stayed home from work cos I'm so tired and miserable lol!

I'm 29 weeks and have been ill since saturday. Have been taking boots own hot lemon/blackcurrant which contain paracetemol and vit c. Went to Dr on mon as very chesty and given antibiotics. Starting to feel better today and back to work tomorrow hopefully! Baby seems fine through all of this, kicking plenty! Stay in bed for a few days and I'm sure you'll soon start to feel better x

flu can be a symptom of being pregnant, i had it too in the early weeks. the only things that realy worked was olbas oil in hot water, tea tree oil on a tissue next to you as you sleep and paracetamol.

you sadly just have to ride the storm and sleep it off.its a good excuse for time off work though!!

get well soon
