Hello- have just found out I am pregnant (5 weeks) after having a m/c back in September. I feel completely normal this time (last time I looked and felt really ill, was extremely anxious as well). I have been getting a few period like aches which come and go. They are not cramps and I have had no sign of blood but I am worrying a little that it will all go wrong at any minute. Can anyone tell me if the period like aches are normal?:\?

Yeah hun, the aches are normal...its your body strecthing and getting used to being pregnant. Make the most of your well days cos at 5 weeks I was fine and from 7 til 11 weeks I was constantly sick!!! Nice bubble baths can help with the aches xxx

Hi..Its very normal to have these pains. Many women have them throughout the entire pregnancy, some women dont get them at all. We are all different. I wouldn worry to much about them unless they are extremely painful, accompained with bleeding or a smelling and greenish/yellowsih discharge. But speak to your midwife if you are concerned. Thanks everyone- I feel more reassured that it is a normal thing. I am trying to relax and take it easy. I guess at the end of the day I won't be able to change anything that happens so I'll just keep going
Another quick question- haven't been to the doc yet as last time when I went I had a m/c a week later. They also made me fill out all the forms and after my m/c I had the free prescription card and letters about scans and midwife which was hard to see during that time. I was intending to leave it another week- what do you all think?

I think if you're concerned your dr will refer you to the early pregnancy assessment clinic at your local hospital. it was a god send to me xx

Hi Lilypingu
As for the cramps, I am still getting them quite bad after about 14 weeks, at first they never disappeared but now it's just every evening 7pm on the dot they start. Midwife says hot water bottle will help.
As for going to see the doc I understand why you have put it off but as Sazzy says they will probably take more care of you this time round because of your history. I'd say it would be better to go and seem them as soon as.
Take care, and congratulations again!

Hi hun....when i was 5 weeks i was experiencing pains all down my left side so i was booked in for an internal scan because the hospital were worried i might be having an eptopic....luckily everything was fine and i found out i had cysts on my left ovary and they would just naturally shrink (i was told to think of them as little grapes!!) Hope this helps!! Good luck with everything babe xxx

Hi Lilypingu

Many congratulations on your happy news!!!!

I had cramps from 5 to about 8 weeks, which really felt like my period was going to arrive, after this they just seemed to disappear.

If you are concerned though, I would go see your GP and see if he can refer you to EPU.

Yes I had really bad cramps at the begining, I thought I was having a miscarriage thats how bad mine were. Its perfectly normal though I was told not to worry about them unless I was spotting or bleeding which I wasn't. I'm now 37+ and the pains are back again but I've been told thats my body getting ready for labour ahhhhhh.......

I am having the same pains at 4 weeks, really worried me too, but DR said unless they go to one side or I start bleeding that it is ligaments and body getting used to being pregnant. Take care, Beccy x

Hi lilypingu...CONGRATULATIONS!!!
I used to always look out for you on the ttc forum. I'm so glad you've come to join us.
Don't worry about the pains, they're normal ligament stretching pains. I still get them now & I'm just about 10 weeks.
Plz don't put off going to see the docs!!
Take care hun, Sarah xx

Ive been having those pains too and worrying

Hi everyone - just to reassure a few of you...I have had an ectopic pregnancy and believe me if your pains were symptoms of an ectopic you would DEFINITELY know about it. They are excruciatingly painful and although I have quite a high pain threshold I actually passed out from the pain! If the pains are just niggly then I really wouldn't worry too much xxxxxxx

Hi all, I'm new to this site I am 5 wks pg. Had a miscarraige in Nov 2005 at 7 wks. I was rushed into hospital with bleeding and left hand side pain - suspected ectopic. (Was never confirmed either way) I had felt pain ever since I had found out I was pregnant but it got worse then I started bleeding. After my M/C I was still in lots of pain and after visiting Dr several times was refered then eventually had a laparoscopy where they found I had adhesions on L hand side. These were cut apart but pain never went totally away. I still got uncomfy if I stayed in the same position for a while. I now have pain again and have done (worse than usual) for about 2 wks. Very sore boobs, Dr did a blood test and told me my hormone level was good - high hcg (aparently Ectopic dont produce as much hcg) saw midwife last tues and she has booked me in for a early scan next tues when I will be just 6 wks. To try to reassure me, I am a total wreak has anyone else been in this situation? Will it be a normal scan or an internal one? Will I be able to see anything? The m/c last time blew me away I was really depressed for months, I know it can't be stopped and there is nothing you can do but I am so emotional, grumpy and tearful and don't know what to do with myself. I was due to be going to a concert this sat with some friends an hours drive away but I won't go as I am so so scared I will start bleeding and be away from home. I would be really grateful for any advice. Sorry to ramble.

Hi Suz, please try not to worry from what you have said everything sounds promising and your scan will give you the reassurance you need. I've had stretching/ cramping pains nearly all the way through so far (I'm 9 weeks now) and had some spotting last weekend which nearly made me insane with worry. I had a scan yesterday, they gave me a check over first and then it was an internal scan. Other than a bit embarassing it didn't hurt and to be honest I really didn't care as long as the baby was ok.
You really need to try and take your mind off things and to be honest going to the concert really might not be a bad idea. The more relaxed you are the better it is for you and the baby.

The way you are feeling is totally understandable after what you went through last time but don't assume that the same will happen again. Your hormone levels are good, you still have all the symptoms of being pregnant so I am sure it will all be fine.
Sending you lots of positive thoughts and a big hug because I know how horrible it is to feel the way you do right now. Let us know how you get on.

Hi Liz, I'm really pleased to hear all is OK for you. Well done on getting the scan. You must be feeling really relieved. Suz@27, I understand how you feel. I am also pg again, almost 6 weeks, but had m/c in Feb. I am hoping to get a scan soon also for reassurance. I think it will be an internal, I had one before at 7 weeks which just confirmed my m/c. It did not hurt. Good luck & hope all is OK. George, x
