Hey,

I got an AngelSounds doppler from Amazon for about ??30. They come in either pink or green and with a bottle of gel - I then bought an extra two bottles of gel but haven't even used a quarter of the bottle that actually comes with it so you may not want to buy extra - I heard baby from about 13/14 weeks and now listen about once a week.

I got the angelsounds one from Ebay for about ??15 and bought some standard KY gel to use with it (that's what my mw uses)
It is good but I would caveat it byu saying don't get worried if you don't hear anything until a bit later. It took me weeks until i heard the hb and got myself into a right state worrying. It was prob about 19wks before I heard baby. Don't use it much anymore, am 32+6 and only use it when in a panic cos baby hasn't moved. (poor blighter is always just having a snooze and I poke it with doppler !) S x

Been thinking about getting one, and today I decided to stop thinking, and just order it... got the angelsounds one from babymad, and it should arrive tomorrow or thursday...

Haven't told my wife yet, and she hates pink, so I'm sure she'll be really impressed

We have one as well - Angelsounds that is and it's ace!!! I was 14 wks when the midwife first listened with hers and we ordered it soon after.

I have an anterior placenta and don't feel much in terms of movements at moment (26+4) so I listen everynight before bed and it's always nice to get that bit of reasurrance :\)

For what it's worth, this isn't the only place where I've seen people mentioning the angelsounds - it always seems to be the one that people talk about, so that's why I chose it. Obviously, it could just be that they're the most readily available, but I've only seen positive comments, and it's so cheap that it's not a great gamble to take...

I've looked around a bit on ebay, etc, and it does seem like babymad.com is the cheapest place to get them.

If you don't hear anything, you just need to mumble something about "bloody chinese made, plastic piece of crap", smash it against the floor, then get your hubby to clean up the pieces and figure out if it can be recycled...

I am 13 weeks today and bought the Angelsounds one last week from babymad, it is AMAZING!!! it made me cry listening to the little heartbeat which sounded like a train!!! xx

I bought the Summer system from Mothercare at 21 weeks and have yet to hear anything (now nearly 25 weeks), I would not recommend this one!:\(

got the angelsounds one few days ago and its amazing. The summer one i have been trying since 18 weeks and still nothing(it does say for use after 21 weeks though). Also tried listening to my own heartbeat with summer one and was really faint so have to say its rubbish.
Angelsounds very clear and you can use cable to record sounds to put on phone, cd etc.

Ours just arrived in the post (ordered yesterday afternoon, so not bad!). The instructions are quite brief, and we're not sure where to listen... we've heard the tummy bubbling, and we've picked up my wife's heartbeat, but not the baby. Any advice? We're at 12+5ish.

My only tip is I had to press down quite hard at first to pick up the heartbeat, just holding it lightly did not work, so be firm! However I knew where the babies were positioned so had no trouble, just keep trying all over. x

I agree about pressing down quite hard and use plenty of gel. Definantly below the belly button and probably not far up above pubic bone.
Only other tip is DO NOT PANIC if you don't hear anything. It definantly takes a few attempts and might need to wait till you're a bit further on. S x

Brought it along to the midwife, and she had a quick go, without any luck... she showed us with her own device, and we did get to hear the heartbeat, so it should be possible for us to pick it up at home. As suggested, we were too high up, and not pressing hard enough.

The midwife suggested that it might be easier with less hair, which I thought sounded like a great idea, but apparently not so ;\)

I've just ordered one from babymad too.
Decided to go for the Baby Sound, as I don't like the look of Angel Sounds, not that it matters in the slightest! It also has two headphone sockets so we can both listen at the same time.

Can't wait to have a go.

We had another go with the angelsounds yesterday, and now knowing where to listen, we found the heartbeat pretty much straight away.

It's got two headphone sockets, so we could listen with headphones at the same time as recording the sound on a laptop (it comes with a spare cable as well, if you haven't got one). I made a little video with heartbeat and ultrasound pics, so I could post it on my blog for friends and relatives
