Does your baby tend to get bigger each time?

I'm on my 3rd pregnancy. Just wondering do your babies tend to get bigger everytime?

Im struggling to compare as my first baby was 9 weeks early and my second was full term.

My bump is bigger this time but. I certainly havent eaten as much as I did with my son- have suffered from morning sickness from day one with this pregnancy.

Just wondered do your babies tend to get bigger as they have more spcae to grow since our bodies know what to do? Or is it just simply in there genes if there gonna be big they will be?

I am interested to know this too. Gestation is a HUGE factor......so based on same gestation dates I wonder how much subsequent babies are meant to be bigger? Also I think boys are generally 10% bigger (I know the red book has a different graph)

My cousin always says 'oh I only have little babies' but both babies have been born at 37 weeks so it is relative.

My DS1 was 7lb 10oz at 41 weeks.

hi i am also on my third pregnancy.

my first was 7lb2oz and second was 9lb5oz...so quite a big jump.

first i had small bump, second i had big bump.

this time (i am 40+2) i have biggish bump, but midwofe has said it has nothing to do with the size of bump as some people are massive and have tiny wee babies and vice versa.

consultant also said it is basically dowm to genes what size of baby you have and hasnt to do with our food etc.

of the people i know they do tend to get bigger each time, but only very slightly, or else very slightly smaller, but the on the whole around the same size (iykwim) so i am trying not to worry, wont be long til i find out and i cant change it anyway so trying not to worry.

laura 40+2 with no. 3xx

should also add first was a girl (smallest) and second was a boy (biggest), both were 10 days late xx

Im due with no5 and given ds my fourth was 10lbs 13onz, I really hope not.

Anyways just thought I'd share that mine have not consistently gotten bigger, but are slightly more so.

dd1 6lbs4onz (4 days late), dd2 8lbs11onz (10 days late), dd3 7lbs 11onz (on due date), ds 10lbs13onz (15 days late)

I am praying this one is a nice 7-8lbs

I was wondering the same. This is my third and im was sat looking at my wedding pics to see if my bump is bigger than last time.
My dd was 6lbs 6 at 39 wks and ds was 7lbs 4 at 38 wks i was really big with ds.
Im hoping this one comes that little bit early again and that it stays in in the 7lb range.

Oooh Hedgieuk I hope its not true for your sake too lol

My first was 9lb 1oz and she was 13 days late, with my second i would say i was about the same size bump wise but my consultant told me baby was gonna be huge and I would never give birth to it naturally so I had an elective section when i was 3 days overdue and she was only 7lb 11oz...needless to say i was slightly p***** off as I didnt really want a section.

Now on with No3 i am 24weeks and the consultant has already questioned the babys size and tried to talk me into having an elective section again but I am not listening this time!!(although I am much bigger with this one even though i havnt put on as much weight) just hope I am right and just because No1 was but it was probably just because she was 40+13!! fingers crossed

JojoDyson, I just wanted to say, don't be bullied. Just because in pregnancy it is so hard to stand up for what you want.

I was told believe it or not, with my son that he was growing too small by their scans, even at 36 weeks they said he was going to 5-6lbs!!!

So I went ahead and had a homebirth, and though I would not say it was fun, he was born at home with only gas and air. We women are flipping magical, lol. Even if your baby no3 is 9lbs or more you can totally manage. I'm only 5'1 and barely over 8 stone normally so I'm not a giant.

Best wishes hun, I'm hoping for you to have another 7lbs 11onz. That is perfect!

Hi, am only on my 2nd pregnancy now but based on friends who have had more the 2nd baby has been larger than the 1st but after that anything goes some have been larger still but some have been smaller. Again it has varied on length of term in pregnancy and length of labour. Sorry if it doesn't really answer the question but to me it seems to depend on each individual.

My 1st (boy) was born on due date and was 7lb 9oz, my 2nd (girl) was 40+6 and 8lb 3oz, I think if she had been born on date she would still have been slighly bigger than ds still.

I'm on my 3rd now and its a strange one, I've put on more weight than I had last time at this stage but I don't think my bump is any bigger than it was and I'm only just going into my mat clothes now and a lot are still too big so I've decided its a bigger baby and less water

Another one who's on their third, I had dd at 40+3 and she weighed 7lb 4.5oz, ds was then born at 40+4 and weighed in at 8lb 4.5oz, according to all the charts in my notes, following the line I should be (35cm at 35 weeks, etc) this put me on the 91st centile and a 10lb baby, have been pooing myself all pregnancy as my dad was one of five and every single one of them was between 10 and 11lb! Upshot is that my measurements have tailed off over the last couple of weeks, putting me on the 50th centile, I ended up having a scan on Wednesday as I had had reduced movements and this is apparently standard at our hospital in the last few weeks of pregnancy, the sonographer decided to do a growth scan at the same time due to measurements and it turns out that this one appears to be smaller! she was weighing in at about 6.5lb at 38+5, I know these measurements aren't accurate and can be out but I'm definately not as big this time as I have been in my last 2 pregnancies and I have been quite ill, these measurements have now put me down on the 9th centile on the growth charts, so we shall see in a couple of weeks!

i think the size of your baby can vary so much due to many different factors but yes i think genes do have something to do with it.
i had 2 girls dd1 was 8lb 7.5oz at 39+3 and dd2 was 8lb 9oz at 39 weeks exactly. BUT i had leaky kidneys (not GD but my kidneys didnt function completly right) both me and hubby were over 8lb and both 10 days before due date, lol. and to be fair i wasnt the healest of eaters (if i wanted chcolate i ate a whole bar not just a piece and this happened alot!!)
all myc ousins were big babies too (well one wasnt as she was premmie)
i didnt have a big bump at all, didnt really show a proper bump til iwas gone 20 weeks with both of them but one of my best friebnds had her little boy 2 days before due date,m had huge bump and he was only 5lbs!
also i have an older and younger sister and my older sister was 6lb 11oz,i was 8lb 2oz and my younger sister was 7lb!

Hi Ladies

Ive just had my 2nd baby 8 weeks ago. My 1st was born on her due date and weighed 7lb 13oz and the 2nd was born at 40 + 2 and weighed 7lb 13oz, so my babies so far have not gotten bigger.

The second time my bump was very large from early on and was really hard and very much all baby which was really different to the 1st time as then it came all from the sides, I wonder if this supports the old wives tale that you carry boys and girls differently though???

Sorry to G/C just wanted to ease any worries as every1 was telling me my 2nd was going to be over 9lb with the size of my bump & him being a boy and my 2nd baby I was terrified.

Im on baby no4 and mine have all gone smaller
DD1 - 9lb 11oz - 40+3
DD2 - 9lb 8oz - 39+1
DD3 - 9lb 1oz - 39+0

Im guess 8lb 6oz for this baby but everyone keeps saying bigger as hes our first boy. xxx
