Cats and your tummy

My cat (the avatar) sat on my tummy throughout my 1st pregnancy. Sadly she's no longer with us but we've got a new little kitten who is 9 weeks old, only had her a week and all of a sudden she hooked on my tum. I know cats always sit on your tum during these times, had a few friends tell me the same, BUT I was unsure if kittens had the same feeling as wel. My 1st cat was at least 1 when she did this. Any ideas?

She might be aware of the baby hun, don't see why not! Cats have their skills from tiny and they only heighten as they age.

My cat Charlie, (5 years), is a bit daft and keeps trying to lie on my tum when I shoo her off, but she pads it and its not comfy. My Dads cat who I grew up with is careful not to touch my tum, she's a bit wiser

What does your kitten do exactly? Does she lie on your tum? I soooooo love cats xxx

Hi she's doing exactly what our 1st cat did which is sit directly on the bump and curl up and stay there. I mean I'm barely showing now but seems to right on top of it. With my 1st pregnancy my cat would sit so far up almost on my chest but then I was big in my 3rd trimester.

hi yummymummy

my cat told me when i had acute apendicitis! (i'm not crazy - i know it sounds that way) way before i had been to the doctor or ended up in hospital
she kept sniffing around my stomach and actually tried to scratch at me (something she never does!) i now have a claw-scar about half a centimeter above the apendix scar!

i think cats are really sensitive to changes in your body and they are also really protective over weak or sick humans - your kitten is probably protecting you and the little baby inside you

(although it might be that your tummy is giving off more heat now - is this possible?)

Hmmm maybe? Wow to your cat by the way! I'm surprised our kitten has picked it up already. Its nice though!
