C-Section Scar

Hiya, just a quick question for anyone who's had a section.

Where is the scar exactly? I have read that they shave your pubic hair about 5cm down so I assumed that it would be under there so when your hair grows back no one can see it. Also how on earth do you cope with a healing scar and hair re-growth? Doesn't it itch like mad??

I'm not one of these people who go to the salon for a 'hollywood' but it would be nice to know if I am going to be able to see it. I don't think I'll ever dare to wear a bikini ever again so it won't matter that much!!

I'm just curious!!!

Hi chick a dee, my scar is just below my knicker line (as long as I'm not wearing my massive comfy pants) and it is mainly covered by the lady garden, it stands out a bit more at the mo cause it's still a bit red, you wont see it when it's silvery. I didn't notice any hairs itching, But the scar was really itchy when it started to heal.

Hey Clair.. I havent had a C/S but have cared for amny women who have, seen lots being performed and removed many stables and stitches... R u having a C/S???? If like you said you dont have aholly-wood look down below, then yeh we do shave it or if a planned C/S Im sure the woman can do it at home... This is becaue the hair can get in the way of the Obs vision, to keep the lower abdominal region sterile, helps prevent infection or the possibility of hair getting inside the uterus, and so it doesnt annoy the ob when doing the acutall op. The cut is roughly above your pubic line... To heal you have to keep the area very clean, but after washing make sure its dried very well..... The pubic hair doesnt exactly cover it all the time, this kinder deends on the woman and her hairgrowth.. It does itch, like most scare and things do also. Hoe this helps... Amirah xo

Can I ask a quick question too...Claire you have SPD right...just wondered how it started and when and what it feels like? It's just that I've had some horrible shooting pains up my thighs and in my back and my pelvis seems to ache and crack quite a bit? :S xxx

Sounds exactly the same as what I am having. I was about 16 weeks when I started getting it but didn't see anyone about it til about 22 weeks as I was 'advised' that nothing can be done. If I was you I would get straight to the G.P. and ask her to refer you to a physiotherapist a.s.a.p. cos the sooner you get help and painkillers the better! Also have a look at www.pelvicpartnership.org.uk for some helpful advice in the meantime cos I believe that if you take care of it during pregnancy then it won't take so long to clear up afterwards. xx
