Boy or Girl - what were the signs for you.

Im so early in the pregnancy but getting really curious to whether the bump is pink or blue.

A lot of sites state that if you conceive exactly on the day you ovaulated (for me this is true) it will be a boy? whereas if you bd;d before ovulation you are likely to have a girl...

Does anyone remember what happened for them? is it true? Do I already know that mine is going to be a boy?

I really don't know when I ovulated...but we did the deed before halfway through and halfway through cycle so no one knows! Except baby! Lol.

My mum thinks the way you can tell is by where your bump lies. If it really low down by your pubic area - boy. High up under your boobs - girl. LOL. She has 2 daughters and said we were high up and she was convinced I was having a boy because he is sooo low & always has been, turns out she was right anyway! Also boys tend to be 'all up front' whereas girls hide away!

So once your bump appears you'll have to see if its true! Hehe xxxx

I agree with Tiger Lily, this is exactly what my mum said. I am carrying really low and having a boy

I have read other threads on here that have questioned the old wives tales and I thin it is different for everyone.

Mums intution is always best I think, what do you feel like you are having? I always thought I was having a boy and I was right

Ive read all the wives tales about the size and shape of bump my query was more towards actual conception.. well I guess we'll have to wait and see x

I know exactly days i concieved, with my twins concieved on ovulation date and had boys. However was trying for girl so waited until 2 days after conception, carrying differently, symptons are really different (really sick this time) but 20 week scan said it was a boy. So for me at least it didnt work xx

I'm not sure when i ovulated but by going on how many weeks i am and looking at my diary to when i think i conceived we didn't do it on that night!! i had a 16 week gender scan and they were pretty sure it is a girl! i have my 20 week one on Thursday so we will see if it still is one! this is my bump at 15 week i can't work out if i'm carrying high or low?!! but my bump starts from under my boobs and now looks like a water melon lol.i have put a bit of weight on my back and hips too. i always thought it was a girl from the start but i'm not sure if that was becos i really wanted a girl! my oh has been calling it she from beginning too xxx heres bump pic

I think these old wives tales are hilarious. I found out with my first wat i was having (a lil boy) unyet all the tales came back to me having a girl. This time round we decided not to find out wat we are having but the tales cnt make up their mind sum say boy some say girl. One thing i know for sure is that im having a baby, lol. Kerry xxx

when i was pregnant (hoping to be again soon lol) my bump was high and i was all front, i felt sick every moring but was never sick, apparently this is a sign its a girl, and i ended up having a girl

all of the old wives tales, mystic charting and gender guess quiz's said would have a another boy. 2 ultrasounds say girl lol THANK GOD !

i dnt know when i conceived as wasnt having periods when i got pregnant,wrk that out??!!as for how u carry,i am carrying completly differently in this pregnancy,low and all front and i am having another girl so i dnt believe all the old wives tales myself!

i am not sure when i concieved, but everyone said i had a boy bump, but it turns out to be girl though everyone who doesnt know says 'ooooo its def a boy!', its not. all the old wives tales are funny and sooo not true.xxx

Hi Em,

I understand your impatience completely! Thankfully my husband caved and we found out the sex at 22 weeks (private scan) and we're having a boy. I always said it was a boy but I was just guessing really. 50/50 chance and all that!

I read that boy sperm swim faster but don't last as long and girl sperm are a bit slow but hang around for days. So you're right that if you know when you ovulate you may be able to predict the sex. But if you had sex three days before and on the day then it could be either a girl (still hanging around) or a boy (swimming fast)... It's not really very scientific to be honest. I think it works best if you are trying for a particular gender and then either just do it early or just on the day. If you do both then you have no way of knowing. And of course a girl sperm could still beat a boy sperm to the egg - hare and the tortoise... Slow and steady wins the race...

And the old wives tales don't work either (as you suspected!).

well i am carrying low and i have a little girl inside!
my mate who has had 2 boys was really ill had bad heartburn morning sickness whereas ive had none of that even at 29weeks whether thats a sign as its a different sex or just cos im lucky i dont know!
it will drive you mad not knowing but atleast when you have your 20week scan you will know, thats if your hospital tell you. i had a 4d scan to confirm what they told me at the scan.
i have read if you crave orange juice its a girl and i couldnt get enough of the stuff at 1st

With DD1 we were convinced we were having a boy, she was conceived bang on ovulation & my bump was very much to the front rather than across my hips. Only her fetal heartrate in the final trimester hinted she was female.

With DD2 I was convinced she was female from 16wks when she was largely laying transverse until I neared labour. Again her fetal heartrate backed my theory & proved right.

Fetal heartbeat - too varied to be conclusive

Hubby's mate saying terrible sickness sign of girl - wrong

Bump started under my boobs, and carried in my back - wrong

My own instincts from conception - bang on, i knew he was a boy from the start!

In my opinion it's all an old wifes tale. I've got 3 boys and each pregnancy was different, I was convinced I was having a girl with my 2nd. My thought is as long as he/she is healthy then I'm happy, they're precious all the same xx

Everybody's experiences are very different and I don't see a pattern as to what gender we are carrying...I was craving for sour stuff and I got twin girls contrary to some other ladies....
