Hi. I have a pressing concern about the blood test for Down Syndrome.

Does anyone here do the blood test only for Down Syndrome (DS)? My friend has done both the Nuchal Scan and blood test.

I am worried coz an article in the magazine about a women whose bloodtest shown 1:650 has got a baby with DS. My bloodtest result is 1:750. that worries me a little. If anyone has done the bloodtest, what is your result??? what is the save range?

The concern is because I got drunk once during early pregnancy at around 8 weeks. I am keeping everything crosses that the baby is not affected by that.

Ask your midwife - when i had my first visit at about 8 or 9 weeks my midwife asked if i wanted to have a private scan. I declined but had the test for downs and spina bifda and my result was 1:5000.
How far gone are you?? I wouldnt worry, im 20 and my consultant said the average is 1:1500. Im sorry to hear about your friend its just unfortuante that she is that 1, but if your midwife had any concerns she would have sent you for more tests. But ask about private tests if you are concerned...good luck

Lauren, I don't want to be thick. But, is that a blood test result??? or a scan result???

I am now almost 35 weeks. It is too late to worry about anything. I would keep everything crosses. :I

i wouldn't worry too much about the test as it is only a guide to your risk factor. my first baby it was 1: 1500 and now with my 5th baby it is 1:5000.
but if you are worried about it contact your midwife she will beable to give you more info on it. good luck.xx
