Hi, my EDD is this tuesday, I really want to do everything i can to avoid being induced chemically so was thinking of trying acupuncture, does anyone have any experience of this? and if there are any positive experiences are there any reccomendations of practitioners in the London/Herts/Essex area?
Thanks! xx

Hi. I have had acupuncture in the past for IBS and really found it helped. I found my practitioner by looking on the British acupuncture council website as if they are listed on there you know they are properly registered: http://www.acupuncture.org.uk/about-us/find-an-acupuncturist.html

As far as pregnancy is concerned, this is 1st and I am only 24 weeks so not experienced it to help bring on labour yet (although I am going to try nearer the time!). But when I was a week late my mum tried it. She had 1 session and I was born about 24 hrs later! It may have been the acupuncture or it may have just been coincidence, but it seemed to work for my mum! Good luck

yes me! i had acupuncture to bring on labour when i was pg with dd.
i was due on the monday and by the thursday nothing, there were no signs baby was budging, so i got in touch with one of dh's friends who does acupuncture and she pinned me on the friday morning.
as soon as i got home i flaked out on the sofa for hours, i also had a really heavy feeling in my uterus but by the evening that had passed and i said to dh that it hadnt worked! went to bed and woke up at 5:30am on the saturday in labour!!!
i couldnt believe it- 24 hours later at 5:33am on the sunday Evie was born- 6 days late
i was so happy it had worked as i did not want to be induced, if i go over again this time i am definately going back to have acupuncture i thought it was brilliant!

I went 11 days over and was also desperate to avoid induction. I went to Camden in London to see if i could get some accupuncture but they all refused, saying it was too dangerous and would bring on labour (aaahhh.. that's why I was there!) But they offered me accupressure and reflexology instead which was less intense and did the trick (or perhaps it was the 3rd sweep Id had!).
