Hi all

Just wondering what your little ones eat? I started off really good making purees and home made food and freezing them, then for some silly reason i tried Lily on jars and now shes realy fussy. Everything i give her unless its pure mush she wont eat, ocassionally the odd bit of toast and bread sticks but most savory food she throws on floor or wont touch.

Its starting to annoy me as i know its not texture as she will happily eat a full banana or a biscuit, so in other words things she has to chew?

Any advice??

Same thing happened with us. Nothing really worked, I just stopped pushing it. I continued to offer finger foods but if she didn't want to eat then I didn't force her. Slowly she's eating more and less is ending up on the floor.
Now she won't eat anything unless she gets to feed it to herself. Even jars, I just dump it on her table and she feeds herself. It's very messy but its the best way for her to eat.
I'm trying to get away from jars but since I can barely cook anything it's tough. I've given her homemade dishes like shephards pie. She loves scrambled eggs which I just gave her on saturday. She also likes sandwiches and most fruit. Not a fan of veggies so I need to find a way of sneaking those in.

No advice really I never gave Luke jar food, I tasted it my self and it was foul, I was a very fussy child but Luke eats everything I eat more or less and with his hands, sometimes he likes to thrown owl and mat on floor but tonight we had mushroom pasta with brocolli and he loves pasta none went on the floor, he woofed that down as quick as lightening, he eats with his own hands as well now, good luck keep trying.

Newlook - OMG I could have written the same post myself. My LO has had finger food and lumps since 6 months.....

Now he only wants pure mush, any bits be pulls his tongue out and wipes them off. Like your LO he will merrily munch on a banana or breadstick. If I have a child that wont have bits in his yogart I will pull my hair out haha

I still offer it to him and it takes ages to feed him but I think it is just another mummy 'test'. Currently the only way he opens his mouth for me (no one else) is if he has a ball in his hand which he throws on the floor 4765 times and I pick up and put a mouth full in!!! Oh he has a shock when nursery wont do that haha

Its a real nightmare - she started off so well and then we have gone 10 steps back.

LadyK-i have sent you an email

Today were going to try egg mayo sandwich for lunch and sausage caserole with mash n veg for tea.

How would you all serve the caserole? Blended up or just chopped up lumps?

Luke had beeg casserole and rice the other day I cut cut it up into little peices and added rice and just mixed it up but if yours won't eat well maybe purree it up a bit first.

My boys both love Pasta, so tend to make a pasta dish, blend the meat and veg into the sauce and add something like peas or sweetcorn for texture. I then mix it with pasta and they both wolf it down. Isaac with a fork and Oscar with his hands.

For example last night I made a creamy chicken pasta with tomatoes, cream, cheese. Another favourite is sausage pasta made with sausages, courgettes, peppers, passata, I blend the veggies into the sauce and both boys enjoy eating sausages, so no need to blend them!

I also make the boys a korma, I can put what ever meat in I like, so tonight it is beef for the iron content, blend it all up except the peas and mix with rice. They both love it!

I found that adding little bits of texture to a puree worked better than trying to give them just chopped up lumps. Isaac is nearly 3, but I still blend meat (he has hypersensitivity and hates the texture in his mouth!) Neither of them eat a sunday roast, but they enjoy most foods so I'm not worried!

Good luck hope my waffle helped!
