Easter Bonnets

Anyone else having to do one?

What ideas do you have, do I make it look like mummy did it (i.e. perfect!) or do I let Isabelle have a helping hand?

Thinking of putting lambs on it, got some tiny lindt bunnies I figured could make it fun for the nursery staff, and some polestyrene eggs that I was going to cover in tissue paper, and fill in the gaps with "Faddoffs", Isabelle word for daffodils, as taught my Margaret next door, who, incidentally has also taught her to put pegs on noses! Not helpful!

I have bought a straw hat, that has yellow ribbons on it, yet now after googling I have seen proper bonnets made from card, you know the old fashioned type with a big brim and I am tempted.

Argggghhhhhhhhhhhhhh! Too many ideas, and a royal wedding party to plan! Luckily I have 2 weeks off now!

Help!

sounds like an absolutely lovely activity. I don't think Daniel would sit still enough at the moment but am looking forward to doing things like that.

I am having to do one! Nursery has a Easter Bonnet competition...........OH LORDY......I am the most competitive person god put breath in so I have not taken this task lightly hahahahaha

I am currently constructing the worlds most amazing bonnet, OH is horrified as it is quite feminine but most wonderful haha. LO will not have a helping hand, however we are also making a easter basket which he is helping me make but sticking bits on etc and coloring the various parts.

So far mine is a straw boater, with a blue ribbon around the middle, I have also got 6 chicks in identical hats to the boater around the rim of the hat. To make the hat more 'boy like' I have made blue bunny ears which I have sewn coming out of the top of the hat so it looks like LO is a bunny if that makes sense. It does need more doing to it. I am thinking of making various spring flowers in felt and sewing them between the chicks on the rim. The chicks are about 1.5 inches high and very cute....

When I was little my mum would have NEVER made things like this for me, I lived in a boys world with brothers etc. My mum (she is my best friend so no critism) is USELESS at hair and make up and was never taught to cook or sew so thankfully my dad's mum taught me these things.

How is yours looking?

I am LOVING easter this year!!!

That sounds fab! Mine is still in the bag from the Range, it's going to have to wait, as we haven't got a day "in" until Saturday, and I have been out every day and night!

I love the idea of the bunny ears, I may well nick that one!

I have been talking to my neighbour, who is on a 4 year winning streak for her daughters, she has done...

A rafia nest with birds and eggs in
A twig with decorated eggs hanging from it, coming out of the hat!
A traditional one with ribbons, and basket as the centre and fresh tulips in oasis!
An enpty box where Aoibhinn's face was the Easter egg

This years entry is a faberge egg style big blue egg on the top of the hat, decorated with gems, glittered half eggs and pearls! She is nuts, however, I know what mine can be for the next few years!

I love Easter too, so much more relaxed family visiting wise than Christmas, and Isabelle has already had her sand and water table from the Easter bunny!

Taking all of her little friends a knitted chick with a cream egg in it today to Rhythm Time, as I think it's our last one, not sure that it is worth payiong for when she doesn't seem to enjoy it as much as the rest

OMG your neighbours creations sound magnificent!!

I didnt even concider doing anything other than a traditional style. If they told us it could be just a creative hat I would have live doves released systematically from the hat throughout the day haha

Yes Easter so much more relaxed and easter egg hunts are so fun!

Loving the live doves, may be a bot heavy, butterflies may be a lighter option!!!

Started tonight by making my pom pom sheep with googly eyes and bunnys out of "trimmed" pom poms!

I have also painted my polystyrene eggs, but they haven't gone too well, even though I mixed gloopy glue with the paint, just like Mister Maker does!

It's just a construction job now, then I will try my bestest to work out how to put photos on here, never having done it in two years!
