Nyla seems to be struggling to drink all 7 ozs of the new milk. I thought it would be a different consistency but seems very frothy. Using the cow and gate no. 3 now.

Ive decided to stay on aptamil 1 as aslong as they are getting enough vitamins in their diet they dont need it.
Apparently its a way round the advertising laws as its advised to ebf for 6 months so they cant advertise first formula but they can follow on formula.

Why dont u try ur first formula again?

Although I am still breastfeeding I have started introducing 1 bottle a day - Aptamil no.3 - she doesn't seem to like it at all! On the odd occaision she has had to have Aptamil no. 1 she has taken it no problem. From what I've read they have added more minerals and vitamins into a smaller amount of milk as babies tend to drink less whilst being weaned. I think the main reason to move them onto the 'follow on' milk is due to the increased amount of iron they need from 6/7 months x

Logan is struggling a bit with his new milk. Going to persevere for now though.

A few people have said this about the 6 month milk. I will give it a go though as have lots of vouchers for this milk, whereas the no. 1 milk you couldn't get any vouchers so it works out cheaper for us to use this at mo. Thanks for your replies..

Hi Jemcol, Do u mean what brand of formula? Were using aptamil 1 ,lo was on cow and gate 1 and 2 but didnt suit been much less windy on aptamil!

I'am going to stick with 1 milk until lo is 1 then cows milk aslong as he is eating well which i cant see being a prob so far.
My friend whos combination feeding is using hipp organic and lo is suiting it well.

Im going to stick with Aptamil 1 too......the follow on milks have more protein so fill your baby up for longer yet they both has the same amount of calories......

I've been weaning on the Aptamil creamy porridge in the mornings and 3 ice cubes of my puree veggies with a bit of porridge mixed in

he seems to be quite sick after my homemade cooking (how rude !!) perhaps its different in his tummy !!!

Hi Aptamil 1 is suitable up to 12 months however; I use 1 bottle of 2 (Hungry baby) before bedfor more zzzzzzz he he.

I had a coupon for HIPP Organic bedtime milk so bought some of that. Not tried it yet. Will do at 6 months.

Someone mentioned Aptamil 3? This is only suitable for 12 months+ as the compounds are more complex they could upset a younger babies tummy.

Looking at Aptimil 3 (online as only can cope with online shopping a t the moment, lol) it says 6months up. We're planning on moving the twins to it, especially as it's included in the 3for2 offer boots have at the moment and you get advantage cards points buying it.

They are 6 months on monday so using up what we have left, inc cartons, maybe we should hold some back just in case! They were quite happy with moving onto number 2 for bedtime though so should be ok.

Though, they've never wanted 7oz in a feed, struggle to get 90mls into William at night, whichever milk is offered.

Loopyloo...the Aptamil 3 is def for 6 months onwards, I checked both with Aptamil advisor and my HV. My LO seemed to struggle to get used to it for the first couple of days but it's fine now - she doesn't tend to drink as much though x

I spoke with a aptamil advisor today about how much milk lo should be having as i'am giving him 3 8oz bottles so was just checking that was enough. She said that was great but had i thought about follow on milk.
She said it is very good with providing extra iron as their stores deplete after 6 months. My lo had low iron at birth as he was 4 weeks early so im thinking about it now.

She advised to start by giving 1 carton(bottle) a day to see how lo took to it and if suited gradually increase.
She advised that the cartons are easier to digest as the lactose is broken down a fraction. They contain 80%casien whereas first milk contains 40% so more protien.

Also they are on 3 for 2 in boots
