Routines...

Hello mummies!!

How is everyone? I was just wondering how we were getting on with routines? I know its still pretty early days but me and hubs are trying to start as we mean to go on

Gracie is pretty good with feeds and goes every 4 hours, however after her afternoon feed (usually around 4pm) she starts to become a bit of grazer and has bits and bobs throughout the evening. We do the bath, bottle and bed routine every night usually between 7 and 8 and tend to feed her once more before midnight and then on a good night she will settle after this and wake once in the night and then sleep till the morning.

We did have a couple of unsettled nights followed by sleepy days but we seem to have flipped tha round now and Gracie has started to be awake more in the day now

Were still playing about with things at the mo and feeding times etc are very flexible depending on what my little lady wants! I'm interested to hear how everyone else is getting on!

Thanks

Kate and Gracie (16 days old!) xxx

Wow sounds like you are doing an amazing job! We have absolutely no routine at the moment! Owen feeds on demand and this can easily be every hour or 2 including during the night. I would like to sort this out but he is still jaundiced and one of the best things for if is to feed frequently to try to flush it out so I don't have much choice at the moment. A bit more predictability would be very helpful for fitting into theo's day though. Fingers crossed it'll start slotting into place soon.

None at all!! We feed on demand which can be hourly, half hourly, 2 or 3 hourly! Bit of a pain with trying to plan anything in the day.

Sleeping wise he'll have one 3 hour stretch in the day from late morning to early afternoon but from then on he's pretty much awake & feeding non stop till he finally falls asleep around 10pm-midnight ish. He'll then wake 1am-3am depending when he's fallen asleep then gets up 5am-7am.

you are doing so well! We are on 4 hourly feeds like you, and little Grace has the timings perfected! However she is a bit fussy in the evenings and we have started trying to feed her a bit extra to see if this will mean her sleeping longer at night... no such luck, still wide awake at 4 hours!

We haven't started the bath, bottle, bed routine yet but i do want to.

Like Gracie our lo is more awake through the day, but unfortunately the last couple of days i think she has had a bit of a sore tummy as awake time has had a lot of crying whereas before she was quite happy to sit in her swing looking about.

I really want to get into some sort of routine but her fussiness in the evenings is preventing it at the moment, but we will get there i hope!

well 4 weeks on Emily is still a little confused with day and night but we are getting there. we are using the babywise method of feeding, wake time then putting her down whilst she is still awake to settle herself. she's feeding every 3 hours during the day up until 4/6pm when she will cluster feed until about 10 (she demands food evry 2hours), then will sleep for 5 hours feed and go straight back to sleep until 6am so she's doing good on the night sleeping.

will be working on getting her to feed every 4 hours next week and I'm hoping the cluster feeding will fizzle out but i've read some babies sleep through the night from 9 weeks doing this cluster feeding.

Jules happy mummy to two lovely girls xx

We are just taking the very relaxed approach lol this is number 3 and my other two have been very different so I guess I've learned there's no hard and fast rules. We're feeding on demand, the 1st few nights she fed A LOT lol so we co-slept after this settled she cluster fed between 8pm and midnight/1pm but then slept for 6 hours so that was fab! She seems to be having a growth spurt atm and was constantly at the breast yesterday! I started bathing her at night but she gets frustrated as she just wants to feed so bathing her in the mornings for now.
Feel so much more relaxed this time as I know this bit goes so fast so I'm just enjoying every minute if she feeds all day so be it its a fab excuse for cuddles lol. Well done on your routine though sounds like Gracie is a very relaxed baby x x

Seren is taking every 3 hours but last 2 nights have been bit of a nightmare,up half the night, I think she has been eating too much , having 750/800 ml, greedy guts and has a touch of wind/colic so we have swapped to Dr Brown bottles and using infacol too so hoping that helps, but I think we have made the mistake of every time she is grouchy we have fed her when she isnt even hungry posssibly. You seem to be doing so well hun, we do the bath, bottle etc, but it is early days and just have to go with the flow I guess , need more Kip xxx

Well done those of you who are managing any sort of routine. We are still completely all over the place! Feeds range from every hour and a half to 5 hours and I never know if he's going to be awake and happy, asleep or grouchy after a feed. I'm still quite chilled at the moment as apparently things should start settling down a bit after 6 weeks?
