Random info for you, as we are nearly at childproofing time for our little ones.

My electrician pointed out that all uk plug sockets are fitted with internal shutters making it impossible for little fingers to fit in, and for little fingers to insert anything that could cause an electric shock, and that outlet covers actually compromise socket safety by weakening the shutter.

For some reason they are still listed on many sites as essential when they are not. I attach a link for a website that is very against them (I always like to use independent thought for anything vitriolic, but this backs up my sparky):

So, feel free to use them if you want, but they are probably a waste of money... I'm not planning on using them...
