Howare we all feeling about our post-pregnancy bodies? I feel a little weird about it. I keep looking at my belly thinking will it go down or is this what I'm stuck with? How will I lose weight on it, it's so wobbly! For us first timers, how do your OH's feel about your new body? My hubby has totally surprised me. He keeps looking at me lovingly as if he's so greatful for what I've gone through and doesn't seem to find me any less attractive. He's even pestering me again already...he thinks coz I had asection he won't have to wait long to resume normal services! lol!!!

I will be going on a diet soon but can't bare the thought of it while BF and not getting enough sleep. Anyone else started one?

Hi Nicospoon, I am gatecrashing the March forum from the December one but just wanted to reassure you that the baby belly does go down! I found that the weight came off fairly easily the first few weeks and now my little one is 3 months old and I still have half a stone to lose but the wobble is definately a lot better then it was!
I would relax and enjoy being a mummy and not worry too much about dieting while you are breastfeeding as you need extra calories for this anyway. You can always have a few brisk walks with the pram everyday to keep your muscles exercised and help tone up a bit. Keep any major exercise away until after your 6 week check especially as you had a c section. xx

my oh pissing me off with suggestive remarks. I wont be letting anything happen till 6 week check as I still bleeding and yuck!!! the thought of it. MEN!!!! Know what you mean though Nic about them been good to not look at us and say..ugh no way!!! My belly like sack of spuds. Its getting better every day but after 5 I dont expect to look like a model! I am in size 14 clothes which are baggy round bum and legs but tight around the tummy area. also, still in BIG knickers as my scar still sore! Lovely eh??? With my first 2 the weight fell off but with 3 and 4 it was much harder. Infact, i never got back to size 10 ever again. With number 5 I am back to pre pregnancy at least(dont own scales..they are work of satan) but I wanted to lose a few stone before I fell preg so lots of work to do. For now though, I am just eating well and enjoying the early days. Will think it about it next month, or month after or next year maybe????

How is Lucas doing???

i now weigh a stone less than my pre pregnancy weight but still have a wobbly belly. my oh is fascinscinated by it as he says it feels really soft lol. i am still bleeding too sigh

I haven't even thought about weighing myself!!! I am terrified of finding out lol!

Lucas is just beautiful! He's doing really well and letting us sleep most of the night but being a wee terror feeding frantically during the day. He's quite windy and on the infacol already! Been signed off by the midwife today and meeting the health visitor tomorrow for the first time! He hasn't been weighed again since leaving the hospital so I really want to know what he weighs now! He looks like he's put some back on tho and is certainly eating (and peeing and pooing) enough! Right now he's sleeping on a pillow beside us on the sofa...with a DUMMY in his mouth!!! Despite breastfeeding I decided enough was enough andour fingers couldn't take any more sucking! Hope it doesn't affect supply. Doesn't seem to so far as he is feeding every 2 hours during the day!

Mummyhood is great!

hiya

breasfed babies can feed every 2 hours ....especially at the beginning. bottlefed babies go longer as the milk is not as easy to digest.
mine is feeding every 2 hours during the day and every 3 at night.
my breastfeeding book says it is normal.

i fed my 1st daughter untl 8 months and do remember her going longer as she got bigger.

i have found that my tummy has gone down really quick this time and i did weigh myself today. i had put 2 and a half stone on and after 7 days i have lost 1 and 3/4 stone already so chuffed to bits. however, i am not concerned about the rest....i lost it ok last time i breastfed without trying.

I didn't weigh myself at the end of pg though can guess what i weighed. i weighed myself shortly after coming home the other week and since then have lost 1/2 stone without even trying. i am not trying at all, but finding I don't eat anywhere near as much even tho bfing and am eating healthier too so all good.

my belly is very wobbly and covered in stretch marks. my belly button is all stretched too. it feels nice until i laugh and then i feel the wobble!

hubby is not at all put off. he tried to get randy the other night but I'm still bleeding and felt a bit grossed - like doing it when AF around - nto for me I'm afraid! was pleased he still wanted me tho cos was not sure he would be put off. one good thing about section is no worry about lady bits being weird so that is a relief i can tell you! he is loving the boobies but generally too full and sore for anything!

i do desperately want to loose weight but not worrying too much now as body still healing and lo needs me so just staying as active as i can and eating sensibly.

I put on 2 stone by the end of pregnancy and I am now 5lbs over my pre-pregnancy weight....mind you I probably lost a stone the day he was born with a ten pound baby, placenta, fluids and blood loss!!! The rest has just disappeared since being home, my appetite has disappeared even though I'm bf, I'm just constantly thirsty! I've just had a tummy bug as well, cramps and diaorrhea, so thats meant I haven't eaten really....desperately trying to get food in me, don't want the aneamia to come back....
OH is fab, he says I look lovely and should be proud of my tummy and stretch marks, he jokes about sex but it is just in jest, I know he realises it's not on the menu for a good few weeks, the tear hasn't healed at all yet....suprisingly though, if I was in better shape down below I'd definitely be up for getting back in the saddle!!!!!

I totally depressed myself today going shopping for a new jacket as my pregnancy one is done and my old ones dont fit. I couldn't get one that fitted over my big boobs or wobbly belly! Even a size 18 and I am usually only a 14!!! I feel crap now and think I'll go and sulk. On an up point I'm getting my hair done tomorrow for the first time since I got pregnant so I should feel better about myself ater that.

Ah the discussion on post-pregnancy bodies! Well at the end of my pregnancy I was tipping the scales at 13st 4lb, bearing in mind that my pre-pregnancy weight was 10st 6lb. So in total, I put on 3st. I can't blame this on Alex as she only weighed 5lb 8oz at birth - so it's all the pies!! I have managed to get down to 11st 9lb, but can't seem to shift from this point. I am eating sensibly, but am just too tired all the time at the moment to do any serious exercise..
As for sex, OH was joking saying that he needed some attention - however I was in no mood for banter as I had just finished a really crappy night-shift with Alex - I gave him the filthiest look possible and said if it was that bad he'd have to sort himself out, or risk losing the ability to father any more children! I just don't feel in the slightest bit sexy - and I am SO fed up of Bridget-Jones-style-knickers!!

gemsie, i too put on over 3 stone so don't worry! i too had a small baby so can't blame her! i know it was my diet so to be expected really.

know what you mean about the knickers in a way gemsie but they are just soooo comfy I'm not sure i can go back to little ones again cos I love the secure feeling they give me!

i know i should prob eat more as bfing and on iron tabs from bleed but i either don't feel hungry when i should do or seem to have a baby perm attatched to the boob that never get round to it and by the time she has finished feeding I am so tired I have a nap with her and then it's the wrong time or something! I'm trying to drink plenty and when i do eat it is good wholesome food so better than could be cos i am a junk adict normally!

we were meant to go out for a meal to celebrate hubby's new job coming through with his parents - them paying whoo hoo! decided not brave enough to venture out to restaurant at night with lo and she doesn't seem to like being out much when food concerned so we've decided to get a takeaway instead - chinese - haven't had one for about 2 years! can't wait - not this wkend but one after!!! i can hear the chow mein calling me!

I've decided i'm going to try and go for a little walk everyday the weather is fine cos it does both of us good - not fast or anything but like the air and so does she. she had her first train ride yesterday as well and was as good as gold. so proud of her!

i also put on over 3 stone... i was 12st before i was pregnant and the last time i weighed myself towards the end I was over 15st and i stopped weighing myself at that point as too depressing... i had a light baby so can't blame the baby, more the chocolate and puddings I ate....

i weighed myself the other day and i'm 13st 12 so have nearly 2st to lose to get back to pregnancy weight and am hoping some of that will come off naturally.

not dieting at the mo as b'feeding but have started to go on walks with the pram and dog. have stretch marks and soft belly too - my "jelly belly" but OH doesn't seem to be put off.

i have accepted my body will never be the same again!

I've been lucky again this time round! Was back in normal clothes after 6 weeks last time and seem to be heading that way again. Evie's 4 weeks old now and I just have a little bit of a jelly belly left now and that's getting smaller by the day. Everything else is back to normal, don't know if I weigh the same or not, I avoid scales like the plague and just go off how my clothes feel!!
03/04/2008 at 17:12
I weighed myself today and found out I am exactly 2st heavier than before I got pregnant! That means I've got 3st to lose coz I was already a stone overweight!! Suppose it could have been worse!
04/04/2008 at 00:37
trust me nic it could be - I am 6 stone over what I should be at a maximum - i've got to shift two stone to be what i was in june before becoming pg and then another 4! going to be a long old slog!
04/04/2008 at 11:04
id ideally like to lose 3 stone more i only lost weight after birth cos i was soo ill during pregnancy i now seem to be stuck at the same weight
05/04/2008 at 07:18
I weighed myself at shopping mall and am back to pre preg weight but since that is 3st more than I would like to be then it is work in progress.

GRRRR!

All the sleepless nights and days taking toll on me and I eat wrong foods like biscuits! Up last night from 12 to 4 with a very grouchy amelia. she is a very unsettled baby. Nothing that you can do its just the way some are. She has really bad skin too so think she is just a very sesitive baby. She getting checked up tom so will get some baby gaviscon as infacol helps but not enough. Poor thing. I annoyed as I totally bf and still she is suffering.

Once I pass 6 week check I will start to use tread mill at gym and bike and in few months will progress to tummy exercise. I will start to swim too. Or then again i might just curl up on sofa with mug of tea and lots of biccies!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
