Well Chloe has a mamouth week of appointments coming up bless her!!!

She has a gp appointment tomorrow afternoon, Monday early am (got to be at hospital over 20 miles away for 8.45am!!) to get her eyes tested and prescription for glasses we have been told she needs, Tuesday is hospital 20 miles away in other direction (we are literally between two hospitals) which is Ear, Nose and Throat for her suspected large adenoids and recurring tonsilitis. She has to have a hearing check as part of this, despite the fact this was only done a couple of months ago!!

Then next friday is her 2yr development check which has been postponed from last week as HV was ill.

Poor lil munchkin is going to be poked and prodded so much!!

How on earth am I going to get a child who will not keep anything in her hair, on her head, face etc to wear glasses??!!! :\?

All this and trying to fit in work, gym, housework etc. God what an exciting life!!

Good luck Lara. Bless you - sounds like hard work poor lamb.

I had prescription glasses at around the age of 3/4 but I think I just took them off all the time! Sorry - no magic tips and prob not what you want to hear. I'm sure the optician will have some advice on this one. I would go for a sticker chart or reward if Chloe keeps them on. Samuel loves frozen ice lollies at the mo - homemade ones with pure fruit juice, It's really good as he thinks he getting a massive treat AND he'll sit still for 15 mins plus they're actually healthy and rehudrating coz it's just fruit juice.

Hope all the checks go well x

Hi all

thanks for the replies!! Well 1 down 2 more to go lol!!!

Had to see a total of 3 people at the hospital today. Typically Chloe decided to go all shy and wouldn't speak for the tests they wanted to do!! She eventually did enough. She was really good having the drops in her eyes for the measurements and checks. waiting room was pants and tiny. I'd had to take buggy with me which was just a pain in the butt (no hubby to help carry her and she is just to heavy for me to carry now)!!! Got her prescription for her glasses and lots of tests.

So off we trek to the town the otherside of the town we live in to the one where the hospital is - basically 40+miles away. Went to specsavers and let her choose which ones she wanted within reason. She chose some purple Minnie Mouse ones and wanted to wear them and was upset when we couldn't take them there and then lol!!!

optician said hopsital should have told me to get to wear sunglasses today as the drops make her eyes bigger and more likely to damage by the sun - of course they didn't so we went to mothercare and got some sunglasses!! She now loves them and thought it is good practice for the real ones!!

Got to go to a follow up in 2mths time so yet another appointment.....

another down....

Today's result is she needs an operation they need to check her adenoids and almost certainly remove them too under GA. Got a date of 23rd September for it. She has an am slot so should get out later that day but has to have a week off nursery after.

My poor baby, got to get her a special present for after.

It's just one thing after another...

Oh Lara. I'm so sorry. That must be yet another blow. It's so unfair you and Chole have had so many health worries to contend with, but an operation under GA is a horrible event to have on the horizon.

My best mate's daughter (and Samuel best friend) has been on and off antibiotics since she was born really. They finally diganosed a heart condition at the age of 2! Anyway, she had quite major heart surgery in the spring and made an amazing recovery afterwards. She bounced back literally within a couple of days. I think the waiting is the hardest bit with operations.

Big hugs x x x

Hey hon, glad to hear she's taken to the sunglasses well so fingers crossed for the real ones!

Awk that's awful, poor wee lamb. Better she has this done now thoug than ends up with infections & illnesses that could have been prevented.

Hope all goes well, keep us informed xx

Chloe had her 2yr check today at nearly 29mths

Chloe is now 15.36kg or 33.9lbs!!! I thought she was about 31, maybe 32lbs - no wonder she feels heavier!!! It puts her between 91st and 98th centiles She is also 92cms tall which is between 75th and 91st centiles. It means technically she is too heavy for the seat in the trolleys

Got her next book start pack - new books always welcome and even better when free

Sadly they don't do a full check unless there are areas of concern which we don't have specifically :\(

but they were pleased with her.
