Sleeping in moses basket!!

Hey ladies! Finally found a few mins to actually type something!

Huge congrats to everyone who had their babies in the last week...it's gone by in a blur!

I was just wondering if anyone else has had the same issue with their little ones. From day 1 Poppy has refused to sleep at night away from me - even in the hospital they couldn't work out why she was so restless until I scooped her up and cuddled her in bed with me, when she slept like a log.

9 days later and we can persuade her to nap in the moses basket during the day (though heaven help when she wakes up and realises she's not being cuddled...) but never at night. I have totally given in at the moment as, incredibly, when she sleeps next to me she sleeps all night - I have to wake her to feed her!!

I'm just scared of co sleeping (the SIDS / rolling issues) and really would rather her sleep in her own bed for at least the bulk of the night. I know she's still tiny but she's got us wrapped around her little finger!

Has anyone else had this issue and if so any suggestions?!

hi kate, im really relieved to read this as me too!! but also sorry to say that mia is now 4 and a half weeks old and still wont sleep in her basket unless shes TOTALLY sparked out and doesn't notice when you put her down, but when she wakes up she has a fit until you pick her up :/
so i am co sleeping, luckily we have a king size bed cos she takes up a lot of room for a tiny person! we put her up on top of the duvet in the middle in a gro-bag, and so far its been fine...but id really rather not do it, but its the only way we get any sleep!! so im no help sorry, but your not alone!

Hi girls I'm having to do the same too!!! Me and hubby top to tail so Harry is never in between us and we've not had the duvet on the bed!! I do remember the girls being the same but can't remember how i got them out of it! I must've done something because they both slept all night from a couple months old!! I never sleep properly at the mo because i'm so scared of rolling on him!! He started out so well!!!

Oh my god..... yes!!! we have this issue. Dylan hates his basket. I think he doesn't like the fact he can hit his arms and legs against the basket. We have had to resort to putting him in bed with us too. We try every night to put him the basket, but it is a waste of time!

Kate I could have written your exact post. William is ten days old and will sleep in his bouncer or the basket when he's downstairs but as soon as we put him in the basket he will wake up and scream until one of us picks him up, he then settles and will sleep for 4 hours or until i have to move due to dead hips from not moving! He loves falling asleep on the boob, he adjusts his head to get more comfortable!
I reslly hope we can get him in the basket as I do worry about the cosleeping dangers but at the moment we are all getting lots of sleep! xx

if you post this in baby you might get some good advice as there are qite a few mummies co-sleeping. i dont as dd sleeps fine in her cot next to our bed, and previously her basket. i have been told as long as baby is next to you, as in not inbetween you and hubby, as you are more likely to wake. and as long as you dont smoke, drink alcohol (whatever that is) or are very tired. and that you are using the right bedding so baby doesnt over heat. a fried of mine cosleeps still at 20 weeks. she has already even took her baby camping to a festival! in a tent!

Human beings, who are almost unique in having the ability to learn from the experience of others, are also remarkable for their apparent disinclination to do so.

we have a similar problem

hubby now sleeps in the spare bed (something i was adamant we weren't going to do!) and Jayden sleeps on top of the duvet next to me on the bed.
I put cushions all around him (including one between me and him) so there's no danger of him moving or me squishing him. plus he is on top of the duvet so no danger of suffocating or overheating

i didn't want to co-sleep but it means if he stirs i dont have to get out of bed (so i go back to sleep quicker) and can comfort him before he wakes up properly and gets upset - so we both get more (and better quality) sleep

i find that my LO sleeps for longer with me so i do bring her in with me to get a few extra minutes!
we have a king size bed so LO sleeps on the mattress away from pillows, the quilt, and side of the bed with a light sheet over her. i put the moses basket up against the side of the bed and roll up a blanket against it in case she miraculously rolls to the side!we usually do it when hubby has left for work, so there is a bit more room x
