hiya - just a quick guestion - i noticed in one of your replys that your lo has started to fuss at her morning bottle , my little man is doing this too and i just wondered if you got to the bottle of why she was doing it as i cant seem to work out why ?! Xx

hiya,

nope im not sure why she is doing it espec as she has been wakening up a bit earlier some mornings but not appearing hungry....its a bit frustrating as she is only on 4 bottles a day (fell into this routine herself) so its hard to get enough into her (an extra bottle doesnt make any difference to amount as feeding more frequently just means less at each bottle) anyway sometimes it seems like its a game...she laughs and me and hits the teat out and just plays with it and other times she point blank refuses and spits it out. I thought it might be her mouth so have applied some teething gel, left it for 5mins then went back to it and she's took somemore but it can take 45mins to get her to take a bottle sometimes...its mainly the morning one she fusses with but is now doing it more often with other bottles too but its hit or miss as this morning she drained 10oz in 15mins...

im hoping its a phase that will pass - i spoke to my friend who's little boy is 12 weeks older and she said he did the same thing about megans age (the wakening earlier as well alhtough not hungry) and it passed - she put it down to teething as gave him a 'teetha' powder when he was doing it and said it helped a little. She is definetelt teething so i am wondering if its down to this. Last week when i had her weighed she had only put on 3oz in 3 weeks (not a concern as still following centile line but now shes only taking about 35oz a day as opposed to 38-40oz - 3 weeks ago she put on 2lbs something in 12 days!!)

sorry im waffling its a bit annoying as i know she needs the milk but i try not to let her see its annoying me or laugh with her when she thinks its a game - she is still sleeping through (the early wakening seems to be occuring on the days she takes her bottles fine too) and isnt hungry or looking to make it up as the day goes on so as i've always been baby led im going with it and letting her take what she wants just now and hoping it passes. Going to get her weighed this afternoon although its only been a week since last weigh in and if she has lost weight i might try a different tactic....

soz v.long winded reply! Whats your lo doing?

Hopefully it will sort itself out soon for both of us!

thanks for your reply hun - he does the same at morning bottle takes an ounce or so then starts batting it out of his mouth , like you say it takes about an hour to get 5 or 6 ounces into him ! Think h could be teething too so thanks for the tip ill try bonjela before the feed ! Hope its a phase and they eat better soon as hv worries me xx

hows things now? Megans still a bit hit or miss but i dont think its all related to teething so still hoping its just a phase that passes.

Had to post as Olly is exactly the same. I have posted in other topics too. I'm going to baby clinic tomorrow as things are getting worse and is refuseing his bedtime feed altogether.

Lauz - Olly is the same and only takes 4 bottles aday so it worries me when he doesn't take a feed!!

Is everyone's little one around 19weeks?? Funny how its happening at the same time for everyone x

Megan will be 19 weeks on thursday and it is funny how we are all experiening it at a similar time....from posts i have seen in baby and on other forums it seems to be fairly common about this age as my friends little boy was about 4 months when he went through it as well. She started weaning at 6 months (he was also wakening earlier but not hungry etc and he started to wake even earlier when she started weaning him so its not always a miracle cure - he has been weaning about 6 weeks now so fairly well established on it now and has only just stared going 7-7 again but does still wake early sometimes and he also went off of his bottles when teething and i see lots of babies who do the same)

i think its a phase (or at least i hope it is) as lots of babies do seem to go through it - megan also only takes 4 bottles which is why im a bit worried but she takes between 8-10oz.

Dunno if anyone else finds this but he takes his bottle so much better if he is sleepy , he will dose off but take it all reall well x very strange , again i really hope he grows out of it xx
