For those of you with bumbos - how is your lo enjoying it? DS has good head control but doesnt like to go in it for very long before grizzling, but we try him at least once a day for 5 mins or so. He still prefers his play gym! Are you finding the same? What are you doing as an activity when lo is in the bumbo?

I ordered a Bumbo yesterday (with a play tray). Lily has really good head control, but it'll probably take a while until she gets used to the Bumbo, because at first she really hated her rocker chair, but now she loves it.
When she's in it I'll probably just put a few rattles on the play tray for her to look at and attempt to grab. But she usually just likes to look around and look at the window and TV, so she doesn't really need a lot of entertaining.

not sure if I've already told you, I tried Callum in his one night for a few mins and he was ok for a couple then grumbled, then I told it through to his daddy the next morning and he showed off completely - he has loved it since, I take him out side with me and hang the washing out, he got his gaviscon sitting in it, he likes watching the telly (shhhhhhh) in it, or just playing with rattles etc. My mum got us a play tray which will be fab when he's a little bigger. He's not keen on his rocking chair

I bought one this weekend and can't wait to use it but not sure when? How old are your LOs? Violet is 9wks and has good head control - when I hold her in my arms she supports herself but still has the occassional wobble. Not sure if it'll be too soon?

I had one for my dd and she would never spend more than 5 minutes in it so it was a waste of money tbh, i sold it. I tried ds 9 weeks in one at Play and Stay on Friday and he was content in it but again not for much longer than 5/10 minutes xx

Looney, I would give it a go and see how she is, Callum has been in his for weeks, his head was a little wobbly at first but he was really well supported in it - he's now 10 and a bit weeks

i am thinking of getting one but thought theyre not supposed to use them til about 4mths wen they can start to sit up on their own. harry has good head conrol and can hold his head up quite well but doesnt quite have the balance.

Amy, I ordered my Bumbo from Mothercare and it does say from 4 months, but then it also says that it's up to you to determine when your baby is ready. The Bumbo is meant to help your baby get the correct balance while sitting I think...?

In one of the magazines i've got it says that they can go in them from 3 months or when they can hold their own head. I picked up one over the weekend and have just tried Riley in it a few times, he really likes it but he hasn't been in it that much yet as hes only 8+1weeks but very strong and does hold his head mostly but can catch you unaware. We've been lent one but she's only been in it once she loves sitting up as loves looking around, she has only just started to go in her bouncer for more than a minute with out grizzling. She loves to sit on your lap holding her own head or on the sofa next to you. she's had good head control since she was born so may try her in it.

George isnt sure on his... he will sit in it for a bit and look round but he is lazy and gets fed up holding his head after a bit!

Jay spent 10mins in it today and even played with his toys in it while i was on the laptop (sitting next to him on the floor)

i've only tried him in it 3 times before and each time he's lasted about 5 mins

i kinda have to trick him into getting into it though - i start singing a silly song and get him laughing before i put him in it so that he doesn't get scared

he's been holding his head up since he was born so he has no problem sitting in it but does get tired quickly

Lily got her Bumbo yesterday and LOVES it!
I put a few rattles on her play tray too and she couldn't stop grabbing them and bashing them! It was the cutest thing I've ever seen!

Thanks ladies, alex has started to object to tummy time too :'( I think his continual upset tummy mean he's just too uncomfortable at the mo to be squashed up in a bumbo as he sits proped up on me or the sofa (supervised of course) just fine!

Thanks for the tip mrs raf on songs etc, have to try him next time with his play gym music!

That's caleb 4 months now and at first he would only go in it for short periods. We have just started weaning and he sits in it to get his porridge and watches baby tv in the mornings in it while i get ready. I love it x

Mine has seated many happy babies bottoms, as my girls had it then it went to my friend, then my brother for my nephew and now Harry. They all grizzled in it at first, remember sitting on their own like that must take some getting used to after lying down or being carried all the time!!

So here's to Harry getting to like his pretty lilac bumbo!!! LOL!!!!

OOOOh just a word of warning about "bumbo poo's" . . . . . . some of u may have experienced this, but a poo whilst sitting in the bumbo may require a bath after!!!! (I'll leave it to your imagination!!!) !!
