Ok , I know I've posted on this before but am starting to get a bit worried about Lady T - she just isn't remotely interested in rolling. She has (I am convinced accidentally) gone back to front on the bed or sofa a few times especially if there's a slight slope to help her, but on the floor - nada. A handful of times (and I mean literally a handful) she has gone to her side from her back, particularly during her nappy off time but that's it. On her front, she's happy to play for ten or fifteen minutes, leans on her arms, does wee press ups but can't push right up on her hands yet - but seems fine. But no attempt to roll to her back and just cries if she wants flipped. She seems so behind every other baby of her age I see in this regard, showing no interest whatsoever. I know I shouldn't compare, but HV said at baby clinic yesterday when I was getting her weighed that if she still isn't doing it by 6 months (she' s just turned 5) that I have to get a development check done by doctor? Made me a bit paranoid.
Any thoughts?

Lucy isnt rolling yet. She's almost there, but needs a little nudge to get her all the way......

thinking about it, its mainly her arm that gets in the way of her managing to roll over by herself, so once i've positioned her properly, she is closer to doing it.

There's a baby at baby group who is 8 weeks old ish. She has been rolling from her front to her back since she was 2 weeks old.... and its not just one way she rolls, she can do it either way (ay first i thought it was because of the way she leaned)

That in itself just goes to show how babies develope at different stages..... where Lady T maybe a little slower at rolling, she may be more advanced in other areas compared to children of her own age.

Really, please try and not worry,,,, and just continue to encourage her as much as you can.

At the end of the day, why should she roll when she has mummy there to do it for her? LOL

Josh CAN do it, only I'd he wants to. So he can't be bothered as I guess in his world- what can he do on his tummy that he can't on his back? He's got rolling onto his side down to a fine art. Even when I put him on his tummy he just does alot of straining ( and trumps!) and flaps his arms and legs so I would say fact that T is pressing up on her arms and happy there for a while is a great sign! Grace isnt rolling either- she could roll on her side from birth but thats it and she HATES tummy time- apparently some babies NEVER roll and its not a true developmental mile stone x

Daniel started rolling over less than a week ago, he was 5 months old on the 5th Dec, I was starting to think he would never do it but he did and now he does it all the time.
I bet Lady T just does it one day, and that will be her. I wouldn't worry about it hun. X

HI
Eleanor rolled a few times a couple of weeks ago, but since then hasn't done it at all. She doesn't like tummy time for more than 5 mons. She is more interested in being in her door bouncer or trying to sit up.
If she gets her balance, she can sit unaided for 5 seconds. I will ask my HV about the non rolling thing btu I just don't think she's interested LOL!

Freddie rolls from his tummy to his back purely due to a hatred of tummy time! Plus he can roll into his side from his back but just as he almost goes all the way he flips back as he realizes he would be on his tummy!
I can't believe HV would say that as I don't think you have anything to worry about! There are babies in my baby groups who although starting to crawl never rolled over! Lady T from what I've seen of her videos and pics and I think just decided that rolling is not for her thank you very much and she'll roll when she feels like!! x

Very proud Mummy to Freddie born 26th July 2010

Archies the same Hun, no rolling,'not even an indication! I think they are just lazy! Haha xx

Luke has NEVER rolled and shows no interest at all. I'm not worried though; all babies develop at different rates hun. Lady T may learn to walk earlier or her speech may be quicker than others. The way I look at it by the time they go to school at 5 they are all on the same level. Don't let it worry you. Xxx

Don't worry! She isn't behind!!
Struan rolled front to back at 12weeks and hasn't done it since!! He is only just starting to roll onto his side from his back and likes being on his tummy so doesn't try to roll!!

Lachlan never rolled until he could crawl at about 9months lol

Ioan hates being on the floor for a length of time so hasn't attempted rolling. I am trying to get him to spend more time on the floor and he's fine if he's got his play thing over him bu it stands either side so no room for rolling!!! I know some babies who never bothered to roll and other who would roll around the room to get to thingsd rather than crawl. They're just all so blooming different!!!!! LOL xxx

aw thanks girls, that makes me feel better. She rolled on her side during nappy off time again last night, so going to try giving her some more of that during the day and see if it helps. Guess it must be easier to move without a big nappy inbetween your legs! I am not keen on my HV to be honest, I think she talks out of her a**se a lot of the time, particularly since I have just found out that I'm actually xxentitled to a 6 month development check in any case, regardless of what she's doing/not doing!

Little man is not rolling either he did it a few times about 3 weeks ago and since then nothing! just likes rolling on his side and looking around  OH just says he is a chilled baby (otherwords lazy  ) but he seems happy enough.
it is reassuring to know that other babies are not rolling yet - they all develop at different rates when they are ready x

Emily isnt rolling over either hun, she's 4 and a half months now. She will get about 3 quarters of the way there and not know what to do with her arm so she ends up on her back again. She's not too fond of tummy time either, and will only stay on her tummy for about 10 mins. xxxxxxxxxx

I am a surrogate for my Sister In Law and am currently pregnant with Twins!

Hiya! Oh please dont worry hun. Cian has NO interest in rolling either. I admit hes a bit lazy... But hey hes gonna do it in his own good time xxx

Can't believe you hv said that about a development check - HOW RIDICULOUS!!!! I was paranoid about development with Max especially as he was premmie. However he NEVER rolled over as a baby, he didn't bum shuffle and he didn't crawl - from VERY early on he wanted to walk around holding 2 hands and would scream and scream until we did it It was back breaking work!!! But if he was sat he literally stayed where he was put (LUSH!)

He walked independently when he was 13 months and a couple of months later started crawling (strange child!!!!!) but he got there in his own good time. His physical stuff is always a bit slower but he was talking from VERY early and is very ahead with his language stuff still now.

With Jack I am much more relaxed - he has literally rolled from tummy onto back twice - once yesterday and once the day before but shows no interest in continuing to do it.

They all do things in their own good time!

Life's too short to spend time with people you don't care about!
