Hi folks
I know this gets asked all the time but just wondering...DD is 14 and a half weeks and showing no interest in rolling whatsoever..she will do tummy time for a good 5-10 minutes now without getting upset and can lift her head quite high now and lifts her legs high in the air and sometimes slightly to one side when on her back, but when I roll her on her side she just looks at me like I'm mad lol...are any of your LOs the same?

Lucy isnt rolling over yet..... will go to her side, but thats about it. She too is getting good at tummy time, and has great head control. Do you actually roll her over? Or help her onto her side?

I will roll Lucy over from front to back, back to front, just to show her what CAN be done. LOL

Josh has been rolling onto his side for a few weeks (but only his right side!) He did flip onto his front last week (if you saw my FB pic!) but I think that was accident as he got a face full of carpet!! - however I found him fast asleep on his tummy yesterday morning so he can do it! He's pretty good at lifting his head, chest etc when on tummy,. looks like he's swimming!
strangely despite them not being able to move - I find him in totally different positions in his cot thatn there we left the little monkey...............
he's 14 weeks today

Gorgeous baby Josh born 14th July 2010 - non responsive silent reflux leading to a bottle/feeding aversion......

hmmmm she won't even go on her side by herself. I flip her to her sides and back to front etc, just to show her but no interest at all....easier for mummy to do it I think!

Finley will roll from his back to his front x

Cian is in noway interested in rolling... But I have a feeling he just gonna do it one day and give me the fright of my life lol. Last week he was in his car seat and he was trying to come out of it. Was so strange, he was using all his force to get out...

Freddie rolled front to back a few weeks ago but think that was through desperation as he hates tummy time! He does roll onto his side if he wants to nose at something so I think he has figured out how to lift his legs up and over!
Sshortie- Freddie is exactly the same, he gets so frustrated if he's not sitting upright now, his face goes bright red as he tries to pull himself up! Cheeky monkeys!! X

Struan rolled from front to back for the first time on Saturday night he is 13weeks tomorrow. Lachlan never rolled until he was about 7months! He hated being on his tummy! He just wanted to sit up too!

hmmm this isn't making me feel any better about the absence of rolling! will have to have words with her

Aila has been trying to roll onto her side for a few weeks but gets her legs stuck and hasn't managed all the way yet - she's not keen on tummy time well unless its at baby sensory after me saying she hates it - anything to show mummy up!

Eleanor isn't really bothered about rolling at all. She sometimes makes efforts to move to her side, but I think she's happier trying to sit up and nose at what's going on. People watching is her favourite activitiy!

Hi chick

Absolutely no rolling interest from Alex either. He hasn't ever rolled on to his side yet either. On the rare occasion he lies on his back (makes him immediately vom!) he just frantically moves his arms and legs and that's all!!

I've tried rolling him onto his side and tum for him but he just looks at me like I'm insane! Ha ha. I'm not overly worried though as I think he's just not interested yet as he spends so much of his time being held upright due to his extreme sickness.

On a better note though he's really, really trying to sit up by himself now if he's lying back on his v cushion he can pull himself right forward so his face touches his feet!! Got to really watch him now. Ha ha. He hates lying backwards!

Don't worry Hun..our babies will rock n roll when they're ready! Xxx

hmmmmm I think you're on to something because I always lie T on a wedge even if she's on her back, so she doesn't posset so maybe that's not helping, I will try and be brave and lie her flat a bit more - BUT at nrly 15 weeks now she is not even trying to sit up either! Am starting to get a bit worried now reading what your wee babies can do...she SEEMS strong enough but not doing anything like these things?

tennison - when Lucy is laying down (flat on her back) i'll take her hands and slowly sit her up. That way she learns to kind of stiffen her shoulders, and hold her head while she sits up, and she is getting stronger and stronger through doing that.

please dont worry about what she can and cant do in comparison to other babies. each baby really does do individual things in their own time, (ive learnt this after having 3 babies) and when she's ready to start trying different things, then there'll be no holding her back.

Gosh don't worry about it! she will do things in her own time! My first was the same as your lo. Struan has enjoed being on his tummy from just a few weeks old so i think that's why he has rolled so soon, Lachlan hated it and like you I always had him on a V pillow or in his swing but he has developed totally fine!!! xx

aiyana rolls onto her side but i think this is only because she hates lying on her back. She won't sleep on her back and rolls when you try to change her. She has rolled from back to front twice but they were both by accident when i yas trying to change her bum and she was trying to wiggle free. She loves tummy time and will happily stay on her front for an hour playing. She seems more interested in trying to sit up than rolling. She pulls her head and shoulders up and her legs kind of like a sit up/crunch position and will pull herself up with her arms holding my fingers. Again i think this is all to do with her hatred of lying on her back, and her being a very nosey little girl! I wouldn't worry about your lo not rolling, they all do things in different orders and when they are ready. My son was really lazy, he didn't roll or sit or like tummy time, he didn't crawl just went straight to walking. Really wouldn't worry or compare to others x

thanks girls, well took her to baby group this morning and she tried to flip on her side from her front, just like that! she didn't manage it, but it was the first time I've seen her do anything like that and funny enough she was on a flat surface so I think that may be stopping her at home. She also tried to get on her side from her back today as well when I was changing her on the bed, so think she's getting interested - or she's going 'for gods sake mummy, HERE, I can do it, now shut up!' lol lol.

OMG Tennison, Eleanor must be thinking like your LO - she rolled onto her side once today. Like you, I think she's saying "there, see. Now, leave me alone and I'll do it when I'm ready!!"

Grace has been rolling on to her side since birth but protests at tummy time so much I can't see her rolling anytime soon, sometimes on her back she lifts her legs high in the air but that's her lot lol x

lol well I took Tilda home and put her on her mat where she proceeded to lick the carpet - think she must have been showing off to the other baby girls! Funny enough she had been staring at a 5 month old who was rolling about on to her side just before she did it for about 20 minutes so maybe she was thinking she would give it a shot. She lifts her legs high up and slightly to the side but hasn't quite worked out she needs to move her top half too. lol! Think it'll be a while. She does love to be held standing up at the moment tho, really supports her weight and cries when I try to sit her down. Suspect she'll skip crawling...
