I have today made the executive decision to ditch the bloody dummy once & for all! The last 3 weeks she has woken without fail, 3/4/5 times a night, for the dummy. As soon as it goes back in shes fine. If she gets hungry during the day she'll winge/cry & just 'shouts' during the night so know she isnt hungry, she hasnt had a night feed since 8 weeks old. We're going cold turkey.....she loves her dummy but its gotta go! Beforehand, she would use it to fall asleep, it would fall out & she would sleep through till 6/6.30 which was great but not any more! Please tell me I'm not being a meany, I just want her to have a good night of unbroken sleep

I don't think your mean at all, in fact I wish I was as brave as you lol!

Summer is exactly the same. Sleeps from 7/8pm until about 4.30am at which point she realises she has no dummy and shouts (doesn't cry)! Then I'm up and down every half hour or so putting it back in!!!

Luckily she refuses her dummy in the day unless she is fighting sleep. I think I will get rid at 6 months. Xxx

Ive caught her sucking her fingers quite a bit, so hoping she'll adopt this. Did Caleb get upset etc, she uses it to self settle, so dont think much sleep will be happening for a while! xx

He got a bit stressed but i just left him to cry and kept checking on him because i didnt want him to then get used to me picking him up and not being able to self settle. It took a couple of nights but he still slept through, it was just the getting off to sleep he struggled with. Now, i put him down wide awake and without hearing another murmor (sp) he is fast on within half hour, he sucks his thumb and rubs his head with his other hand, looks so sweet!x

Eleanor is the same re the dummy and wakes a lot in the night and we need to go put it back in.
I can't decide whether I'd like her to have it or not. DS is a thumb sucker which is great for sleep, but it drives me mad that he sucks it all the time. At least you can throw a dummy away.....
For the moment tho, Eleanor simply sleeping minus the buggy is a bonus for us. And I was hoping for a baby that would just sleep when put down this time. SIGH!

I've not been brave enough for this yet - will be interested to see how wee Fearne does...

we've been lucky that T never liked dummies and spat them out with a look of disdain on her face (her favourite look lol) but she just sucks her forefinger, slurp slurp slurp all night ! at least I don't have to get up and replace it I suppose....
