Following on from mybutlers poorly baby posts, I have a question...

What are you using to blow your babies noses??? Seems stupid but Emilia is on the karvol drops and they are doing a fab job at unblocking her nose so she can sleep, eat etc...but the runny nose is now never ending!
I know when I have had a cold and been using tissues they make my nose sore so anyone got any fab Mummy tips to stop that happening?

Thank you xx

Sorry to hear Emilia isn't so good. There seems to be a lot of it around at the moment. I use the same stuff I use on her bottom around her nose if required. It's a Paw Paw ointment, but I'm sure a small amount of vaseline would do the same job. I use Carmex lip balm on myself, and use this around my nose if it gets sore. Hope you're well xx

Hi Joemoe!

Leon has had tons of colds & I use a wet wipe to blow his nose & then applied vaseline . We've never had dry or red skin around his nose. Hope Emilia gets well soon!

Muslins for us...have gone through about a million this week!
I'm also putting some Lansinoh around her nose to stop any soreness and on her chin as she's dribbling so much breathing through her mouth - not great with the cold weather

I know how you feel, Sara's nose is constantly streaming at the moment too. I just use what I put on her bottom too...although now I've written it I'm beginning to wonder if that's a bit gross?! Sore noses are grim, especially in this cold weather. Shame they hate having their noses wiped so much!

Cam is a snot monster too. I use wet wipes with aloe vera and chamomile for his nose as he often wakes up with crusty bits and dry tissues don't cut it! But the wipes seem to have kept him redness free! xx

Thanks ladies, will use the wipes and see if that keeps the redness away.

Hope all the Jan babies feel better soon xx

Ye my los nose is dif to clean espesially when dried up and crusty. She wont let me touch it ,the only thing that worked for me is washing her face gently, making it fun, singing and patting her face. Once the dried snot gets wet its easier to clean away ,( I know that sounds gross ) plain and simple water is best, no soreness

oh dear so many poorly jan babies . i hope they all feel much better soon.

i have no advice, but am dreading this with Mia. she done even like me cleaning or washing her face, so blowing her nose would be a nightmare. will keep an eye out for some tips. xx

Hi again!

For crusty noses (yuk!) I find that cotton wool balls with baby oil on work best!

I tried using the pampers wipes but I think they were a bit to wet for her but bog standard tesco ultra soft unfragranced wipes seem to be doing the trick as they are quite dry but still shift snot better than dry tissue. No complaints from her so far...

Its a lovely job - although I have to be quick off the mark or I get a lovely snotty kiss!!!

Get well soon everyone xx
