Hi ladies, iv not posted on here before so I hope you don't mind.

My harry was born on 1 march, he's still not smiling & doesn't really seem to focus on my face very much, & if he does it's only for a split second. I know people with younger babies who are smiling so I'm starting to worry a bit.

Just wondered when your lo's started smiling? Do u think I need to worry. He's 7wks now x x

I completely understand, I had Charlotte on the 27th of Feb and she isn't smiling yet either. She smiles when she has wind but won't do it when I try and encourage her. I don't think it will be long as she seems to look happy but hasn't done the full on grin yet. So I wouldn't worry.

In regards to focussing on you - does he focus when you are feeding him?

Its not unusual if you have a shy baby for them not to focus on you as they feel intimidated. This was discussed by the Baby Whisperer in her tv show on Discovery Home & Health last week.

Dylan was born 7th Feb & smiles now but he refuses 2 look at people a lot of the time & looks past them. Even if you move into his field ov vision he will look away. His daddy says he's ignorant

My little girl isn't really smiling, well not at me anyway!

She smiles at my mum, but this only started last week, Amelia was born on the 5th March. As Zowen said, they are all different and do things at different times.

Check with you HV if you are worried, they'll soon tell you if it's a milestone your LO should have reached already.

Megan was born on the 1st too. she started smiling about 10 days ago. Unfortunately not at me!! When her Daddy comes home she has loads of smiles but me -Nada until this morning!!

Try to get someone else to make him smile. I think sometoimes they spend so much time with us we are a routine thing so they become excited to see someone else.

Dont worry tho - it'll come. they change so quickly - I'm dealing with excessive dribble today as the new thing!!

c xx
