why do they feel they have to make your life hell during a recession!!!
Halifax have decided to take away our overdraft! why i dont know! we are good customers and have only been charged a couple time which i might add were the banks fault and were therefore refunded but still show on our account cheeky buggers!
so they are taking it away tuesday ??800. now i could understand if we were dependent on it all month but we clear it at least twice a month and we have all our wages going in it every week! they told us yesterday and are taking it tuesday. so that leaves 3 working days to sort it out. er i dont think so!!! we are emptying the account and bloody taking our busness elsewhere stuff em! i didnt think the credit crunch would affect us we both have good jobs now i have 2 jobs and good wages and never miss a bill even on my half wage at mo. but no it seems it could turn ugly quickly! i can fully see how things spiral out of control for something as stupid as an overdraft. I HATE HALIFAX and always have they are a crap bank. hubby thinks they have a list of people who they are targetting and w have recliamed charges from them so we are on the hit list. so now we have to change all our bloody direct debits to our other account which is a pain in the arse. they wont even take it down to the original overdraft that was standard with the account when we opened it noooooo they taking it to 0! WTF!!!!!

they are losing good reliable customers and dont seem to care or want to help us in anyway. sign of the times i think x

I used to work for Abbey many moons ago and I'm sure they need to give you a LOT more notice than 3 days. I can't remember how long you normally get but I would think it's about a month.

Can you speak to the Banking Ombudsman to see what they say, or even just the Halifax complaints department? I know it probably won't change your mind about switching banks but it might let them know they can't get away with doing that.

they sent a letter 2 weeks ago to say we need to call on the 1st april and nothing could be done prior to that. grrr. we are off up town in a min to close the account and move our business elsewhere i still hate halifax they charged us ??30 for being overdrawn by ??1.10 for 1 hour! how ridiculous is that! anyway stuff em x
