Answering back

ok the last few days Max has started answering back when he is being told off - for example yesterday I told him (in my serious telling off voice) not to stick his tongue out at me because it's rude and he answered back with 'no it's not' - well I lost it and yelled not to answer me back - there have been a few cases of it. But the trouble is I don't think he understnas what answering back is if you know what I mean - how do I explain it???

It is something I can NOT tolerate it drives me mad in all children as I find it so cheeky (not in a good way) and rude so how do I crack this!??

Life's too short to spend time with people you don't care about!

Rhys is exactly the same and if I tell to stop doing something he turns round (in what can only be described as a horrible spoilt bratty tone) and says don't tell me off or something similar and I think it sounds awful. I'm with you and keep telling him off for answering back but not sure he understands and not the easiest thing to explain.
When he does it I say to him "Mummy doesn't like it when you talk me like that." but so far it's not making any difference.
I'm with you though and absolutely hate it.

Boo, Roo & Alfie too

Yep, Brendan does this too! I usually say (in a very stern mummy tone) 'don't you speak to me like that' sometimes it works and he says 'sorry mummy' othertimes he just pulls a cross face back at me. Not good! I just hope and pray something magical happens when they turn 3 and all these bad behaviours dissappear - I am pretty sure I am dreaming though!! xx

No advice from me I'm afraid - I got 2 of them answering back and being complete brats! One of thems 5 1/2!!! N's just starting his tantrums and omg does he go for it - slamming doors and throwing bowls of cereals - all because he wants to do it himself and I'm fed up with half a box of cereal and a pint of milk spilt over andvthe actual breakfast in the bowl not even getting eaten! Breakfast is becoming the most stressfull time of the day!
N's only just started his tantrums so I'm not assuming it's going to
magically go away next week when he's 3!
As for my eldest no clue what I'm going to do with him. N I know is tantrums and copying his brother and asserting his independance while dealing with thevfrustration of not been able to do it but my eldest I do sometimes worry he is turning into a spoilt brat!
