thought it was all happening ... now not so sure??? - My baby is due in May 2011

So I woke up at 2am with really strong Braxton hicks, these continued to be regular as clockwork, every 10mins lasting about 1minute each time but then in the last hour and a half I have had about 3 or 4????

Thats 7hours of regular contractions only for them to die off....

Anyone had this and still gone into labour or was that just a "practice run"???

Ah bless you! sounds like baby spud is abit of a tease, just keep making a note of the time and i would maybe ring the hospital for advice, sorry to not be more help but i really hope this is it for me! i know you have been waiting a long time!! xxxxx

hey, this happened to me, when i was 40+6 weeks i started getting period type pains at 9pm and during the night they got worse and worse but i didn't think i was going into labour because they were irregular and the pain varied. by 7am the pains had completely gone however i had a membrane sweep that day and the midwife told me i was 5cm dilated. contractions started again at about 1pm and i gave birth 7 hours later

Aw hun, sounds like baby spud is a naughty one! It does sound like a false alarm but I bet things pick up again soon, lots of women have a few false alarms just before the real thing.

Thanks ladies, I know its just a case of wait it out and see, I really thought I would be meeting baby spud today.... booo!!

I am getting them on and off still just nowhere near regular any more....
Hopefully like heathergc they are doing something productive and dilating me (I was 1cm yesterday) rather than just causing pain for no reason lol sweep booked for monday!

Thanks hun, they seem to have stepped up a gear again???! No Idea whats going on!!! :?
Just taking each one as it comes and staying active... I want my baby!!!!!!

DD labour was 57 hours start to finish so looks like I'm in for a long one again! lol so much for seconds being early/shorter labours! lol

Really hope this is it for you, I had three days of it this week that trailed into nothing, but I'm only 39 weeks *sighs* so you've got more of a chance and already 1cm so keep active!! Good luck hun x

I had a good 2 weeks of it, even the mw at the hospital commented on how strong & regular my BH's were. Flippin frustrating aren't they. However I think they were the start of slow labour so may be for you too!

I've has two 'false starts' this time with contractions starting, coming 30 mins apart them stopping.
Never has this last time, not even braxton hicks then BANG out of the blue it kicked off.

I'm really bloody grumpy now.

Thanks everyone, they are back with a vengeance but no noticeable pattern yet, OH has to work tonight as no one will cover him so not looking forward to the evening ahead!

if u have a smart phone or iphone you can download a contraction timer. really helped me to keep track and spot a pattern! if it gets worse phone ur OH... sod work lol xxx
