OH and I picked out Anya (or some other spelling) ages ago and still really want this for a girl

We both pronounce it Ann-ya (hard A), I guess because we both knew someone called Ania who pronounced it that way. I had also heard it on Buffy pronounced Ahn-ya, but assumed that was America being America, they do the same with Anna I believe. Also I have recently heard it pronounced On-ya, but I don't like it that way

How would you girls pronounce it? Do you think Ann-ya is wrong, and if so, would we look stupid for calling our baby that name? I don't think OH would consider pronouncing it Ahn-ya, although I would

Everything I can see online says either Ahn-ya or On-ya, and that Ann-ya is wrong x

G/C but being spelled Anya it can be pronounced several ways from 'ann-ya', 'ahn-ya', 'onn-ya', 'enn-ya' or 'annie-ya' so it all comes down to which you prefer. I have two friends named Andrea one pronounces it 'Ann-drea' whilst the other prefers 'Onn-dria'. There is no wrong way it's up to you.

My sister is called Anja (Ann-yah) so I'm all for the name! People find it easier to pronounce than my name (Jana - Yah-nah) even though it's the same letters x

I taught a girl called Anya and it was pronounced ann-ya. Had never come across the name before but I like it.
People will pronounce it the way u say it most times. If u love it go for it x

Definitely Ann-ya and with these things I usually think about stuff like school and when anyone is announcing names I think the first pronunciation that comes to mind is ann-ya.

Any name that a child has to spend half their life explaining how to say it because someone gets it wrong must be a little annoying!
