I know many of you are second/third timers but thought I would just say what I've signed up for...

A 3 week course of various things including labour. This is the first three Tuesdays in May 7-9pm
Relaxation and breathing with birth partner 7-9pm the last Tuesday in May.
A 2hr session on breastfeeding Wed 29th May.

I also signed up for a baby first aid course but they say they don't have any space which is disappointing.

Those who have done it before, did you find classes useful. I'm really doing it just to get even more information even though there are so many maternity/birth programmes on the discovery home and health channel!

Even though we already have a little man, I am tempted to attend some ante-natal classes again as they have changed them into more specific subjects. Every labour is different so I don't think there is any harm in me finding out about how it might go this time!

The breastfeeding workshop we went to before my son was born was really useful!
We unfortunately never had any breathing and relaxation advice so I am hoping to go to that course this time. Really a really good book (Birth Skills by Juju Sundin) before I gave birth and that helped a bit, but would have been nice to be shown what you can do as well.

I did do a baby first aid course after he was born which our sure start centre organised. Was really good, but I am ashamed to say I have forgotten a lot of it...

I didn't find my Antenatal classes useful at all They were the NHS ones though, I didn't pay for the NCT ones which i've heard are really good.
It was 3 x 2hr sessions and one of the sessions was about BF alone and one poor woman put her hand up to say she wasn't going to try breast feeding at all and the MW taking the class picked on her the whole session (Bless!)
Everything she told us I had already read in books or online and my husband was just bored...although she was very honest with what would happen which I think prepared him slightly for all the nasties that he'd be faced with during Labour and Delivery!
I def won't be going this time around.... and hoping my labour goes as well as the last one did.
Just thought whilst typing this, that they did help us with our birthing plans although the MW's must not have bothered to read it as i'd planned to have a water birth but they didn't know and they nearly couldn't fill the birthing pool up in time....but they did, just in time! I'd gone in with an open mind though as had been warned that it's unlikely that your labour will go to plan!!
I'm a fan of all the programmes on the Discovery Home and Health channel too
Sorry for the long post! lol

I doubt I'll go this time. Not that I didn't find them helpful, I quite enjoyed them TBH, I'm just not sure what I will get from them this time round x
