SPD

Had to go to the Doctors today as I was having a pain around my pelvic bone this last few days. I thought it was SPD. The Doctor confimred thats what it is and has referred me to physio. I have to see the Consultant on 7th June anyway and the GP said to mention it to the Consultant if I haven't heard anything and he will speed it on probably. It is getting worse the last few days and gets worse after walking. I will be 31 weeks on Monday. I have been noticing this pain since the baby moved very strangly on Monday and I thought it was going to come out through my belly lol. On the positive side when I was there the Doc let me hear the heartbeat and said it was perfect and a nice healthy heartbeat. It was the first time that I have heard the heartbeat as I haven't been to the midwife since my booking in appointment and when I went to my scans I have just seen the heart beating. The head is also down but not engaged which she said is a good sign and the pain is definately nothing to do with the baby. She also said that so far there is no sign of this baby being premature but I suppose no one can be sure.

Hope you are all feeling well. If anyway else has SPD please share your experiences and any advice would be great.

HI

I have SPD and I know a few others on here have as well. I have had it with all my pregnancies and this time it came on at about 18 weeks. I now use crutches to enable me to walk anywhere and work as it is too painful without. The physio is def the right way to go as mine gave me my crutches and some tips for dealing with it. I take co-codamol at night to ease the pain slightly so I can get a bit of sleep. I am being induced at 38weekss in about 8 weeks time. I was with my others as well. All I can say is that with 99% of people it disappears very soon after birth as long as the midwives adhere to the guidline for safe istance of separation during your birth. Mine disappeared with both of my previous pregnancies a couple of days after the birth (2nd took slightly longer but not much longer)

I hope you are feeling better soon and get someone to do something.

Best advice is to relax whenever possible. I find sitting on a birthing/exercise ball helpful as well as it gets the right psoition.

I too am suffering was signed off work as im having to walk with crutches and cant do my job on crutches. The pain for me is worse when i separate my legs so when i get in and out of car etc i keep my knees together. When going from stting to standing help yourself up by pushing up through your arms and alleviating the pressure on your hips. Wear shoes with a proper sole on not pumps the physio rattled me for that when i went to see her lol!

I find that going from sitting to standing frequently helps if ive been in one position too long its agony to move...the only thing ive yet to discover is how to get out of the bath pan free but its worth the pain for me cos it does help a lot

The physio was great She gave me a support belt which holds the bump up and eases the weight off me and also crutches which while inconvieniant allow me to walk a lot more than i could without them! I too find that sitting on excercise ball helps a bit too

I really feel for you and wish there was more advice to give you but thats all i can think of hope you manage hun xxx

i have SPD unfortunately cant tell you anything positive I have had it from 22 weeks this time and its getting much worse. I was in so much pain am now on maternity leave. I have crutches and a support band and they best advice I cau is to rest, sit down instead of standing, baths instead of showering. Go upstairs the least you can. When you get up from sitting to standing pull your pelvis in as that also helps. I also have pgp and sciatica

The physio will give you excercises but in all honesty until you have your baby nothing will improve.

With my last pregnancy as soon as my baby was born it went away Im keeping my fingers crossed it will this time to

Hey I have PGP/SPD too!Good that the doctor was so thorough! Mine has eased off slightly since i have cut down my hours at work and my husband makes me rest more. I have a belt, which is ok, its not hugely usefull but some times it takes the edge off of it, i think rest is really the only solution (altough easier said than done)

At night i prop pillows everywhere in between my legs back and bump, although i sleep flat alot of the time and prop a pillow between my bum and legs for some reason that feels more comfy for me..

Think its finding best positions for yourself, and pelvic floor exersizes.,,

Hope it eases for you soon! xx
