hello ladies!
just wanted to say a quick hello and catch up. we just got back from our 3 week holiday to south africa. it was amazing and we had a really great time. being pregnant didnt stop me doing anything at all (safari, sight seeing, dolphin cruise... you name it) and the nausea went away just in time for the trip. im 15+4 now and my belly is finally starting to grow a teeny bit.
whats bee happening here? how are you all doing?

ah im so glad you had a great time there and youre doing well im actually headed there on holiday this friday and your post has been very reassuring for me as ive been a little nervous about travelling and being abroad whilst pregnant!

Whereabouts did you go? and how was the flight?

Must be so exciting that you have a little bump now x x x

no need to worry about traveling to south africa while pregnant hun. its amazing and should you need anything at all, the medical facilities are very good. although the tap water is fine to drink i would stick to bottled. my brother had a runny tummy at the end of our trip (my whle family went for a visit this time) but i was totally fine. also carry a bottle of water in your bag wherever you go. i was drinking so much due to the warm weather. and sunblock, sunblock, sunblock! i put that on instead of body lotion in the morning cause the sun will get you badly.
we visited with my husbands family in pretoria for a few days then headed to madikwe game reserve for a 3 day safari (malaria free), then spent 5 days in cape town (hubbys gradfather lives there), and then 5 days down the garden route (swellendam, oudtshorn, and knysna - flew back from port elizabeth) and the last few days in pretoria again. every leg of the trip was fantastic and we had sooo much good food. the fruit is so yummy and most guest houses will serve fresh fruit salad at breakfast. yum!
the flights were actually the only bad part for me but that was really only due to the fact that i have a phobia of flying and normally take strong meds when i fly, which i obviously couldnt now. in itself they werent bad, just scary for me. but considering i had 6 seperate flights (we live in vienna so flew to joburg via frankfurt and then had the 2 domestic flights) in 3 weeks without my xanax, it couldnt have been all that bad i did wear compression socks though on the long flight just in case and i admit i had a small glass of red wine on the long ones for my nerves, but thats it.
im sooo glad i went and it was wonderful being able to travel properly before baby arrives. i wasnt uncomfortable at any point and just made sure i rested when i needed to and drank loads of fluids. so enjoy and dont worry, youll have a great time. xx
