Hi ladies,

I just wondered from what day fertility doctors count CD1. I've read that it should be from first day of red blood, but asked my GP and she said from first brown spotting. My cycles are generally very short and AF lasts 2 weeks so having a blood test tmrw. I sometimes have 4 or 5 days of brown spotting before red starts. Have never had positive OPK and tried temp & CM charting this last cycle but no signs that I ovulated:\?

CD1 is the first day of proper red blood.

Hope that helps.

Yeah I agree with Tiny, always been told that it is the first day of red blood as day 1 of cycle. Brown spotting could mean old blood left over from previous cycle I think? x

I always counted CD1 as 1st day of fresh blood. I thought the same as Anne about brown being old blood. Hope that helps xx

I too thought it was first day of red blood - doc said to count it from then. x

Got blood results today, didn't ovulate
I expected it though as have had no other signs (temps, CM, OPK). But I'm a bit uncertain about whether I was tested at right time, had blood test on CD18 due to short cycles (22-23 days) and now on CD26 and no AF?? But if I count from first red blood (sorry tmi) I am CD23/24 and had test CD 16.?? Have appointment with doc next weds to discuss results. I'm 30 and been trying to conceive 8 months....am I correct in guessing it's unlikely they'll do anymore until I've been trying 1yr?
