After I had my daughter in August 2009 I went for a routine scan to check on ovarian cysts that I had trouble with before conceiving my daughter. After the scan I remember the scanographer telling me I had a retroversed uterus, but I thought nothing of it and they didn't follow it up with checks at all. They said my cysts were fine and that's it. So I just decided to look it up and this is what I found: it means my uterus is tilted backwards towards the spine and it can cause Pain during sex and during menstruation. I just can't believe it, after all the gyne appts about the above symptoms a retroversed uterus is something they never looked into. I feel like I've diagnosed myself!! It does say it doesn't affect fertility but I'm not so sure? Has anyone got this? Xx

I found out an an HSG I have a retroverted uterus. I have the symptoms of pain during intercourse and extremely painful periods. However it has never come up in any of my fertility consultations (been trying 2 years, have blocked tubes). After I found out I mentioned it to my parents and found out my Mum's is retroverted too, however she had no problems whatsoever conceiving me or my 4 siblings!
