Hi, I'm new on here so please excuse me if I get the acronyms confused!

I suppose I'm just looking for a bit of moral support. We've been ttc for 18 months or so and the problem's definitely with me even though I'm under 30, fit, healthy, don't smoke and bearly drink. DH was tested and is way above average but that doesn't make up for it unfortunately. I'm approaching 1 year since my last af, have had a barrage of tests and recently had a dermoid cyst the size of a tennis ball removed from an ovary, they did a dye test while they were in there and some other tests which look ok.

Am seeing another doc on thursday about drugs (Clomid I think). Was just wondering whether there were other people in a similar situation?

Hi there Cazzak,
Moral support you will find in abundance here, the ladies are so supportive. Many of them similar to you having a healthy life style and being under 30 (im in that category) and some older ladies too.
There are lots of ladies who are or have been on clomid so will help with lots of advice ect.
I do not ovulate often either (just twice in the past 18 months) and have now found out that it is due to polycustic ovary syndrome. I too am hoping to start clomid and see my consultant tomorrow to find out hubbys sa resutls and find out where we go next.
Good luck with your appointment on Thursday and keep us posted on progress x

Hi Cazzak,
Welcome, it's lovely on this forum, there is always someone able to answer a question or have a word of support.
I had 3rd round Clomid this month, and I'm on injections to force ovulation.
Hope you get what you need from the docs,
xx

Hiya

I too struggled to conceive - for six years all in all. I had tonnes of tests and they found nothing really wrong at all - bar a couple of fibroids which may or may not have been a problem. I had them removed anyway, although it still took almost another three years to conceive after that, so i don't think fibroids were the problem.

My af wasn't spot-on regular (anywhere between 25 and 31) but regular enough that it shouldn't have caused problems. However, i thought i'd just let you know that i am now 22 weeks pg and finally managed to conceive on clomid. Only my second round aswell, which i was so surprised about! I'd kinda thought "oh, here goes, something else which probably won't work" because i was really getting into a negative frame of mind (which doesn't help either but easier said than done).

So, i can vouch for clomid being a success story for me. I was also lucky enough not to suffer any side-effects from the medication - i believe most women suffer nausea quite badly with it.

Anyway, thought i'd just let you know that Clomid can and does work as it worked for me!!!! As someone who was starting to come to terms with never being a mummy, to be able to sit with my step-daughter last night as we both watched my tummy jump up and down had me in tears!

So, please don't give up hope hunny! I really hope it all works out for you - and for every other lady (or gent) on this forum hoping to conceive.

Thanks for all the support, it's good to hear that there are other people in similar positions.

I had the appointment with the dr on Thursday and basically he doesn't know what's wrong with me other than there is something not right (well, duh!). He was reluctant to put me on clomid straight away as some of my test results indicate that it might not work. Instead of lots more tests (which sounded invasive and generally unpleasant) he's put me on another drug - can't remember the name and the tablets are at home, it sounds hormaonal - which I take for two weeks and which should induce a bleed in the 10 days afterwards. If it does then he can try me on Clomid and it's all good, if it doesn't then it's off for the aforementioned barrage of tests.

So that's another 4 weeks of waiting for test results... oh well.

The medication will provera or cyclogest which is progesterone to bring on bleed. It always worked for me. I went for years not having AF because of PCOS.

Really hoping you get to the clomid as it has a brilliant success rate with people who dont ovulate.

Fingers crossed XX

Hi Cazzak and welcome

I too have PCOS and was diagnosed with them after not having period for over 6 months from when I came of the pill. I have had various hormone tests which show that even though now I am having Af's - I'm not ovulating - or I am on the lower side of 'average'. I am starting clomid on my next cycle - so for once I will be pleased to see AF. Good luck with everything and make sure you keep on at the GP to make sure you get the necessary referrals if needed. x
