I think I have piles,

I have been on and still am on iron supplements which have slowed my bowel movements!

For the first time today I have been a few times..

I just went to the loo again and on wiping thought I had left a bit of tissue behind.... it wasn't its soft and squishy.... must to my OH disgust I made him look,

Do I have to go to the doctors? Can I use something from over the counter if I'm breast feeding??

Quite embarrassed......

don't be embarrassed love, if you are concerned then go and check it with your doctor, i have seen my doctor today as i am 31 weeks pregnant she said that it was normal in late pregnancy and it should go away after birth and she gave some cream for the itchiness.
so i would say go and discuss it more with you doctor
good luck and let me know please

Don't be embarrased - lots of women suffer from piles during and after pregnancy! I'm suffering with them too after giving birth 2 weeks ago. They have been fine until today and now i'm in agony! Like you, am on iron tablets which is making bowel movements slower and harder which isn't helping! I called my doc and they prescribed me some suppositorys which help clear them up. I'm also using Anusol cream, taking lactulose (to soften bowel movements), and as much paracetemol as I am allowed within 24 hours!! I asked for something more stronger for pain relief, but dr wouldn't as I am breast feeding. Said they should get better within a few days so to grin and bear it!! Easy for him to say, he's not the one struggling to sit down and walk!! xx

i had awful piles after the birth, they were more painful than my stitches!. just get some cream "Anusol" & rub that in, its ok for breastfeeding mums, the hospital gave me it.
