TENS machines £15!! - Labour and birth

(posted this on pregnancy page but just in case you didn't see it...) I've seen TENS machines for sale in Lloyd's pharmacy for ??15!! recommended but make sure you know how to use the blooming thing first, i didn't and was v. frustrating having pain relief at my fingertips and not being able to control it properly, esp as had a home birth!. gave up and threw it across the room!!! good for helping with braxton hicks so i have been told! my baby decided to come the day i hired my TENS so didn't preactise! wish i ahd got it before now!

just a word of warning - not all TENS machines are suitable for use during pregnancy, make sure you check before you buy!

i dont think the one from lloyds is suitable to use in labour. i brought my one from babiesrus and it was 39.99. i didnt use it in labour tho cos i was hooked to a monitor throughout but cos i ended up having a section i used it afterwards around my wound to help with the pain and it worked brilliantly xx

The ones from lloyds aren't suitable for birth. Mymum works in one of the lloyds chemist and I asked her to get me one and she said they can't be used in pregnancy.

I hired mine for ??22.99 for 6wks with free delivery, it has the boost button which my midwife said I needed gives extra pain relief during the contractions, i got it from www.tensmachinedirect.co.uk

Hiya you can get them from the hospital that you have your baby in - i used a tens machine and paracetamol, didn;t really like the tens machine, i kept getting tangled up when i went to the toilet and i had about 4 baths so had to keep taking it off and putting it back on! i suppose it was a good distraction but when my baby decide he was coming i kept pressing it and i couldn't feel it, then my waters broke and i started crying because i thought i was going to get electrocuted by it lol - the funny things pregnancy does to you lol :L
