Well, I finally did it with my 3rd lo - she was 1 last Wednesday and is still breastfeeding! I am really pleased especially after her 2 lots of refusing to feed at 8 and 10 months old!
I know there are mums out there who have fed past the 1st year and just wanted to know how frequently you fed and when and how you stopped.
I am quite happy to carry on but it suddenly feels a bit different bf a toddler! I guess it's because I know she is allowed cows milk now and my boys who stopped at 8 and 11 months on their own just went straight onto cows milk when they were 1. My daughter still hasn't got the hang of any beaker I have given her (about 15 different ones!) and is showing no signs of wanting to stop bf at the moment which is fine with me but it means that she still has about 5 feeds a day (some longer than others from about 2-3 minutes to 20 morning and eveming). However, as she has always fed under arm and it is getting very difficult as she gets longer and longer I also wanted to ask how you feed your toddlers.
Finally, as I didn't know we would last this long I have been reluctant to buy another bresatfeeding bra but as her favourite game whilst feeding is to pull my bra straps they have stretched so much there is hardly any point wearing them. Do you still wear bf bras?
I guess I would just like to hear from other mums who have or still are feeding past the first year.
Thanks xx

hi,i breast fed my middle child till she was 18 month, when she turned 1 i cut her right down to 2feeds just the afternoon so she would have her afternoon kip then before bed, then a few week after that i cut it down to just the afternoon.ive got to say though it was heartbreaking stopping altogether when she was 18month because i loved breastfeeding and she still wanted "boobie",but i had to be firm.i still wore nursing bras up till stopping altogether, more because they where just so comfy.Im really glad i breastfed lauren till that age i certanly didnt feel weird feeding a toddler, and i definatly will feed bailey who is only 9week at the mo till he is 18month so long as he still wants it then.hope that helps. becky xx

Hi Arg
I just wanted to say well done for b/f for a whole year.I'm not there yet my lo is 9 months so i'm sure the next few months will whizz by though.

Have you had a look at the website www.breastfeeding.co.uk/forum I have seen a few people on there that are b/f beyond 1.

Hi i b/f my 3rd child till she was 21 months, she only had it first and last thing after 1 and happily gave it up by herself when she was ready. Isaac is going to be 1 in a few weeks and still feeds first thing mid morning and bed time, he does take a beaker but wont drink milk from it, Ideally i would like to drop the mid morning feed but i dont think he's going to do that very willingly so guess i will carry on for a bit longer.
